Re: 1mo of 24hr CGM data streaming

In my younger years, I kept to a night-owl insomniac sleep schedule where my "best work" ran between 11pm and 5am. Lately, it's sort of flipped around as I've gotten more into the wholistic diet+exercise scene and come to really value deep, restorative sleep and staying in-phase with norm...

Re: 1mo of 24hr CGM data streaming

I do web development and maintenance for a handful of clients, I work as a studio musician when I have the chance (I went to school for music composition and sort of majored in.. guitar, haha.) And, lately I'm studying to get my state license to sell insurance. I've also got a few other (massive!) ...

Re: 1mo of 24hr CGM data streaming

Hi apod, Your attention to details is incredible. The more I read your posts, the more I'm in awe, honestly. How do you manage to find time to do all this? I just can't see how it could be possible with 9 to 5 job and a family (as in my case). Are you retired? Probably not, since you still do powerl...

Re: Dr. Steven Gundry with diet recommendations for ApoE4

He found, for example, that vegans who were, in his view, lectin sensitive, could pressure cook their high lectin foods (e.g., grains, legumes, nightshades …) to destroy the lectins and still achieve the improved biomarkers. I'm still confused about high lectins foods. There are so many bad things ...

Re: Dr. Steven Gundry with diet recommendations for ApoE4

Hi George, Thanks for the link. So, Gundry suggests eating as much shellfish as possible but, at the same time, he warns against raising IGF-1 ("Want to minimize IGF-1 ... . Best way to do this is to minimize sugars, starches and animal protein . The issue with animal protein ( including shellf...

Re: Dr. Steven Gundry with diet recommendations for ApoE4

...ancestrally, even 'vegetarian' primates get a small amount of animal protein in the form of bugs. True, true. This, and the fact that they don't wash foliage they eat (thus consuming traces of soil) explains how they get their V12 (among other nutrients). Unfortunately, I'm not ready to eat bugs...

Re: Dr. Steven Gundry with diet recommendations for ApoE4

VictorN I can't say for sure, but I wonder how much of this perspective on this stems not so much from a literature review as from his own patient profiles. Many vegans and vegetarians eat a high carb diet. Those vegans/vegetarians for whom high carbs lead to high triglycerides, inflammation and ot...

Juliegee wrote:Those are great, Victor. Another common inflammation marker to check is C-reactive protein. A1c and fasting insulin would also be nice to have. Good luck!
Thanks Julie!

Going to hematologist - what to ask for?

Going to hematologist this week (regarding my low platelets). What additional lab tests to ask for, without overwhelming the doctor and Canadian Health Care system? So far I'm thinking vitamin D and Omega 3, maybe homocysteine. What's the best inflammation markers to check?

Thanks,
Viktor, 3/4
