Re: Evidence mounts for alternate origins of Alzheimer’s disease plaques
Per the recommendation of an ENT, I’ve used Gaviscon Advance, from the UK, which is different than the Gaviscon we have in the US. Gaviscon Advance contains sodium alginate and potassium bicarbonate. When you drink it after eating it creates a raft at the GE junction that prevents reflux. It’s avail...

Re: Chronic Inflammation as a contributor to Alzheimer’s
Thanks for posting about the questionable validity of the (costly) urine mycotoxin tests and providing the link to Dr. Kharrazian’s post about chelation and autoimmunity! Good timing for me, as I’m grappling with a heavy toxin load and am very likely chemical intolerant. The Cyrex tests discussed co...

Re: Mold and mycotoxins
I just reread this thread and really appreciate all the insights offered on what to do when mold toxicity is a significant health issue. Regarding this, I’m curious as to whether anyone has had a whole-home air purification system installed in their HVAC. I have CIRS and my health really improved wh...

Re: New member here, looking for advice from the group
Fly, hi. Your symptoms, in particular the problems with memory, mental math and spatial navigation, sound very similar to what I have experienced, with the cognitive decline beginning in my 30s. Years later I found out that I had Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and very likely Dr. Bredesen’s ...

Re: looking for a practitioner in Wisconsin
Hi, cenright. My mom, who lives in Madison, saw Dr. Clemma Nash in Roberts, WI. It’s pretty far north, about 30 miles from St. Paul, MN, so about a 3 1/2 hour drive from Madison. Dr. Nash is Bredesen trained and I believe she takes Medicare. I think she books out quite a bit in advance, though (mayb...

Re: Is hair dye bad for us?
I’ve used Hairprint twice. It worked well on my very gray hair (which used to be brown) in terms of coverage, but it made it incredibly dry and almost sticky. Also, the application has multiple steps and I was at the salon for hours. I think it would have been difficult to do at home. I’m back to re...

Re: Using RAPA for AD prevention
I see that Dr. Bredesen was a co-author on one of the Rapamycin studies with mice. Does anyone know what his take is on the use of Rapamycin for AD prevention in humans (in addition to intermittent fasting and the ketogenic diet)? I don’t believe he mentions this in his book. I’m curious as to wheth...

Re: general anasthesia.
I’m not sure if this (commentary by Rudy Tanzi) has been posted elsewhere, but it may be of relevance to the decision-making process when general anesthesia is required.

Re: Hydrogen Sulfide SIBO
Rebekah, I saw various functional med doctors (none were covered by insurance) and consulted with a SIBO-aware gastroenterologist in Ohio (William Salt) via phone. I paid out of pocket for that, but I think he sees patients in his Columbus office. Had I gone there in person, my insurance would have ...

Re: Hydrogen Sulfide SIBO
As a long-term SIBO sufferer, I found this fascinating. Thanks for posting it. TheBrain, thank you for the information about interpreting breath test results and for asking your doctor about the possibility of someone having hydrogen sulfide as well as another type of SIBO. I think I am very likely ...
