Re: Statins and Dementia studies
Somehow I'm not surprised that it was the South Koreans that looked at this group of diabetics on long term prevention protocols. My endocrinologist is South Korean and she runs of very tight ship in her practice. She also ran NMR Lipoprofile lab tests as soon as they became available in 2007. Thank...

Re: Statins and Dementia studies
This topic had been very interesting to me for a long time. I am a Type 1 Diabetic that was diagnosed at age 47. When diagnosed, I was immediately put on 10 mg of Pravastatin to protect my heart, even though my cholesterol levels were normal. To protect my kidneys, I was prescribed an Ace Inhibitor ...

Re: Why Krill Oil Beats Fish Oil
Rhonda Patrick has changed her opinion on this based on her own research. She no longer takes the phospholipid form nor Krill oil. Instead, she takes a high potency DHA supplement. Rhonda is also an Apoe4 carrier so she is careful about this statement.

Great to see Montelukast in Phase 2 studies for prodromal and mild to mod dementia. Effective so far in inflammation and immunity issues.

For what it's worth, I have a close friend with a newly discovered mitochondrial disease. She is rapidly losing her hearing, vision, muscle mass, Type 2 Diabetes, plus she is ApoE4 positive. She has been evaluated by researchers at Duke University as well as Harvard University. They have put her on ...

Re: Cholesterol drives Alzheimer's plaque formation
Further down that rabbit hole Julie, which you just opened, has been an overlooked amyloid, Islet Amyloid Polypeptide (IAPP). IAPP is co-produced in the pancreas islet cells along with insulin. They are co-released by the pancreas in a 10 to 1(IAPP) ratio. IAPP has been studied as a target for AD be...

Re: Deep Sleep 4/4
I highly recommend watching/listening to Dr. Andrew Huberman's podcast (Huberman Lab) or his YouTube channel. He has a lab at Stanford and his goal is to get actionable, no cost info out to people interested in neuroscience. He has done a recent podcast on sleep and doesn't recommend melatonin and a...
