Re: Very Good Peter Attia podcast

A couple additional points that stood out to me: 1. Dr Niotis' comment about managing AD when ApoE4 status is known was not just she doesn't worry as much; she said, "easy peasy". That's a step-change difference in provider outlook compared with when Julie started this community in ~2013. ...

Re: Potentially falsified Amyloid B research

I exchanged messages with Charles Pillar ( https://twitter.com/cpiller ), the investigative reporter who authored the Science Magazine article, on Twitter. He said he will continue to track the case, and will publish more as developments arise. He said he believes resolution will take a lot of time....

Peter Attia hosts Benoit Arsenault for Lp(a) deep dive

A typically high quality Dr Attia podcast. Sharing it here for a couple reasons: 1. Lots of folks in the community report high Lp(a) measurements along with their ApoE4 status. Benoit mentioned an ApoE/Lp(a) association, specifically, “ The apoE allele that increases the risk of heart attacks will a...

Re: Cataract Surgery Lowers Risk of AD

Thanks, plumster. I noted : “ the only covariate that was more protective than cataract surgery was not having an APOE e4 allele”, referring to Figure 2.

Plasma ApoE Levels and Risk of Dementia—You Are the Company You Keep

“The findings by Koch et al1 therefore raise the possibility that composition of the HDL-associated proteome may be a key determinant of apoE-associated risk of AD and all-cause dementia. Identifying HDL-associated protein cargo and apoE-interacting proteins in HDL fractions may hence provide furthe...

Re: Einkorn Sprouted Wheat

My wife and I purchased Einkorn flour about a decade ago. I don’t recall if it was sprouted, but I’m not sure that matters. We may a couple of batches of bread and it was a bit different than modern wheat but not remarkable, meaning the bread was quite good.

Re: Moderate alcohol consumption protective against AD

Marc, without a well studied MOA, I have a hypothesis that alcohol consumption causes a dose-dependent impact on sleep; lots of N=1s report poor sleep, including objective metrics from devices like Oura. And we have good evidence for the role of sleep in AD. I would love to see alcohol studies inves...

Art DeVany is back with a new book

For those who have been paying attention to paleo/ancestral health movement since its early days, you’ll likely recall Art as one of its original voices. I listened to an interview with him on STEM Talk, promoting his upcoming book, The Youthful Brain, partly a strategy to avoid AD. I enjoyed hearin...
