Re: Know Your Risk for CAA; Take Precautions Now

With my recent health issues, and my holistic cardiologist insisting my husband and I watch Forks over Knives, and The Game Changers documentaries, I have now stopped all animal foods (including eggs, all dairy, red meat, white meat, even fish), and all choline, lecithin, carnitine, and all fish oil...

Re: Study: Hormone replacement therapy is associated with improved cognition and larger brain volumes in at-risk APOE4 w

Hi Grommet, The literature does indicate that Apoe4 carriers benefit from bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, and this latest study appears to confirm that. Have you seen the Natalie Rasgon Stanford Study that showed Apoe 4 menopausal women benefited from using BHRT? https://med.stanford.edu/n...

Re: Any thoughts on lecithin (phosphatidylcholine)?

Very good information to consider, Susan, thank you! I'm going to look into doing the Genova Profile, and see where I stand. I do eat a very healthy diet with lots of fiber, so I assume I would have a good report, but you just never know till you test. Right now, I'm just hoping I haven't done too m...

Re: Any thoughts on lecithin (phosphatidylcholine)?

Hi Maria! That article you shared is certainly interesting, but I have a concern. The median age of the participants in the study was 28, not exactly a high risk group. And although TMAO spikes in the body, it also increases over time, so I'm thinking TMAO levels likely become more problematic in mi...

Re: Any thoughts on lecithin (phosphatidylcholine)?

Hi Maria, Thanks for the quick response! Regarding your comment that the 2011 article was a study on mice, this is not true. The article states that the doctors at the Cleveland Clinic found that 1900 patients who came in for cardiac evaluation were more likely to have artery disease, coronary arter...

Re: Any thoughts on lecithin (phosphatidylcholine)?

Hi Maria, I have recently had issues with choline supplements, and the dangers of increased TMAO from supplements and diet appear to be real, I'm finding. Supplements such as alpha GPC, or any choline supplement, carnitine, lecithin especially, and even krill oil (apparently rich in choline) can inc...

Re: Klotho - rs9536314

This is a very encouraging article regarding Klotho. Whether you have the protective variant or not, you can increase upregulation of Klotho by aerobic exercise (intermittent or continuous). https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6143843/ "In conclusion, the present results suggest that e...

Re: Klotho - rs9536314

Yeah, I just heard on a Peter Attia podcast that it can only be done with whole genome sequencing at this point, because no one has yet made a test for this SNP. It sounded like it might happen relatively soon though. Hi Mike, Yeah, I listened to the entire podcast, and heard Attia say this too. Bu...

Re: Klotho - rs9536314

Sorry to hear that the more current 23andme results do not give the klotho information. I did my genetic testing on 23andme several years ago, and uploaded that data to the promethease site again last year. I was able to easily get my klotho variant results this time, and thankfully, I have the prot...

Re: Klotho - rs9536314

You can also go to the promethease website, for a small fee, they will analyze your genetic data from 23andme, and give you a much more comprehensive report. I'm pretty sure you can get information on the klotho variant you carry from the promethease report.
