Re: 4/4 centenarians?

This paper reports a 97 year old homozygous e4 person, with no obvious signs of dementia (MMSE score of 25). From memory (read it a long time ago), I think the person had some other genetic things going on, that may have preserved his/her mental faculties. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P...

Re: Google as Big Brother?

The Ministries of Truth must save us from ourselves and the potential for thoughtcrime. I just read Marc's post on page 1, so to expand on my previous comment for those pursuing a reduction in google use, while online anonymity is pretty much impossible, a vpn is a good start, and whatever browser y...

Re: Google as Big Brother?

I find Start Page a bit more user friendly than DuckDG - https://www.startpage.com/

For those looking to improve online privacy, this is a good starting point for ideas - https://www.privacytools.io/

Removing google completely from mobile/cell phones is not always straight forward, but can be done.

Custom blood tests - Australia

Hello, For those Australians that aren't lucky enough to have an open-minded GP, or want to test certain markers out of curiosity rather than major concern, I can recommend iMedical.com.au Summary of the process: You choose and pay for the tests you want on their website; They send you a pathology f...

Re: Lipoprotein(a) Levels Increase Significantly in APOE 4

Hello NF52. I've seen the "Lp(a) changes very little over the lifespan" comment quite a bit, but in my very brief exposure to the test, results went from 0.74 g/L on a standard crap diet to 0.5g/L on a high fat diet, five years later. The last test was 5 years ago, so I plan to take anothe...

Re: Palmitic Acid; not our friend?

Thanks for the paper, Julie. Personally, when I see something like this, the first thing to seek out is exactly what they mean by "high fat diet". In a separate paper, they elaborate. http://tinyurl.com/yb6z9slz The high SFA diet had them eating 41-43% carbohydrate and 16% SFA (38% total f...

Re: Evidence for healthy whole grains debunked

Hey, Julie, It's been a few years since I read Anthony Colpo's book, but I remember it being reasonably good on facts. It's a good thing that it doesn't take long to read, because his writing style can get tiring quickly. https://www.amazon.com.au/Whole-Grains-Empty-Promises-Surprising-ebook/dp/B00I...

Poor mice.

Have a good one.
