Re: Wrestling with all the food recommendations

"I'm an athlete--Will this diet provide enough nutrients and calories? "Absolutely. ... Just make sure you are eating enough calories while on the program. This may mean eating lots of extra snacks, and larger meals to accommodate your needs." (p. 188). While I know it is possible to...

Re: Wild Planet Sardines are High in Arsenic (and other omega 3 ponderings)

They didn't test many sardine brands, just three. It's turned out I actually like Season Brand better and it's a little cheaper on Amazon. It had the lowest mercury of all the canned fish tested and less than half the arsenic of the other two brands. Stay away from King Oscar Wild Caught Sardines i...

Re: Wrestling with all the food recommendations

The Elimination Diet book arrived today. And immediately it set off alarm bells. In the description of Phase 1, it said I might lose 5-7 pounds in the 2-day initial detox phase, and in first two weeks the average weight loss is 15-16 pounds. I am already 5 pounds below what I've long thought of as ...

Re: Sneak Preview of Dr. Bredesen's new Brain Food Pyramid

Question: how are you addressing electrolyte needs like potassium etc? Hi Minijunkie, when I started following a ketogenic diet, my electrolytes got messed up. I knew because I began having intense leg and foot cramps at night, which I had never had before. At first I thought it was Mg. I was alrea...

Re: Wild Planet Sardines are High in Arsenic (and other omega 3 ponderings)

ConsumerLab now includes some sardines in what is now its tuna, salmon and sardines review. I've switched from Wild Planet sardines to Season Brand sardines. It has a little less DHA, and I'll still be getting some amount of arsenic from it, but less than half that of the other two sardine brands. ...

Re: Breakthrough on Deep Sleep Issue

I wanted to share a recent breakthrough. Until I got an Oura 2 ring over a year ago, I didn't realize how extremely poor my deep sleep was. It has not been uncommon for me to get zero to 10 minutes of deep sleep for weeks and weeks at a time and rarely has it been over 30 minutes.... Those two chan...

Re: Does Black Coffee Break a Fast?

While I'm a bit concerned about ignoring Satchin Panda's input that it disrupts the circadian clock... Hi circular, I listened to the interview segment with Rhonda Patrick and Satchin Panda, and while I admit that my interpretation of what he said may be influenced by my own strong pro coffee bias,...

Re: Does Black Coffee Break a Fast?

Hi Tiramisu, From most perspectives, including my own, as long as no calories are consumed, the fast is not broken. Most people do not believe that black coffee interferes with a fast. Black coffee has been shown to be beneficial for ketosis. If I understand correctly, Rhonda Patrick's objection to ...

Re: Avoid Air Pollution

At the risk of sounding negative  , I have not noticed any difference in my functioning with any of my interventions, including air filtration. Hi slacker. Thanks for responding. I don't consider your comment negative . Just honest. Hopefully your many interventions are working on a subtle l...
