Re: Ketogenic Diets Aren't All About Carbs and Insulin
I listened to this talk from his podcast. I probably should have switched to the video when I started getting lost in the biochemistry.

Re: Ready for Quadruple Strength Aricept?
This report from a non-peer reviewed meeting abstract only reported a 90% benefit from subjective measures given by those who were not blinded to the treatment. Furthermore, there was no control, only a claim that control groups from other studies would imply a benefit from the new drug protocol. No...

Re: Vitamin K2
Our country has just completed an enormous several years RCT monthly D3 trial and I hear thru the grapevine there were no adverse effect concerns. I personally don't do it that way but I think its the least of my concerns for him atm. Interesting to hear there are some hard data on this now. Since ...

Stavia, Sorry to hear of his troubles. I have to say, I've been down that road and followed Dr. William Davis' Track Your Plaque website for several years due to 90%ile+ calcium scores starting in my mid 40's (and osteopenia) before giving up on him when he decided wheat was the source of all evil i...

There is a lot going on in this paper, and I don't have the time to go in deep on it. The full text is here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4055506/ The five year follow up is here http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=204643 But my initial impressions are that: (1) I'm con...

Re: Dr. Bredesen with Chris Kresser
I liked his comments about the clinical research to date on reducing beta-amyloid not yielding much and that looking to the cause of the amyloid buildup should be a greater focus.

Several other takeaways: His software algorithm will input data from over 100 historical, biochemical, genetic, imaging and function values and give the % contribution for each of the different AD pathology subtypes. I caught that, too. My first thought was wondering how many subjects does he have ...

I would have to second the macadamia oil suggestion even though I have not tried it. I used to like flavored coffees with hazelnut or almond. Mac oil probably has great lipid profile for what you are aiming at.

Re: For My Fellow EVOO Epicurians
I tried it years ago...BLEH is right. I do like coffee with a little cocoa butter, but then I suppose the saturated fat is something you are trying to avoid. If you do try to add low SFA oil to coffee, I'm pretty sure the way to go is with neutral-flavored refined oils rather than virgin--cocoa butt...

progranulindefect- I think anybody who experiences transient expressive aphasia, which may be what you are describing, in the absence of obvious causes (e.g. being drunk, altered consciousness) should see a neurologist. I would not blame a medication like anticholinergics whose cognitive effects are...
