Re: APOE 4/4 - Wisdom on telling siblings/children
I have not been active on the Forum in several years, but that is not because of any bad news. In fact, I am in relatively good health. Quick background, I found out I was 4/4 in a surprise 23andMe report in 2013 when I was 71. The good news was that I had chosen a healthy life style in my late 20&q...

Sitting all day increases dementia risk — even if you exercise
https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2023/09/27/sitting-sedentary-exercise-dementia/ Interesting article, and not good news if you have a sit-down desk job. I get help from my Apple watch which vibrates if I have been sitting an hour straight, telling me to get off my butt. And most of the time I...

Re: Lecanemab full Approval!!!
This Washington Post article on this is attached at the bottom. Here is a snippit that this group should definitely read: "The FDA said the drug’s label will include a “boxed warning” highlighting safety issues. That warning, sometimes called a “black box,” says that Leqembi, and other members ...

Great idea. The Trial is still open, accepting new participants, so where is there a better source of candidates than here?

Re: FDA Advisory Panel Unanimously Recommends Lecanemab
At a $26,000 per year cost to Medicare for Lecanemab, drug companies are definitely disincentivised to find cures, which would kill their golden goose annuity. Another example of treat-don't-cure is that insulin keeps millions of diabetics alive, and the price of insulin tripled in the past 10 years...

Re: Hello from an Assisted Living Homeowner
I am not familiar with Marama, but after eight years as a Volunteer Ombudsman at three different large Assisted Living Facilities, all of which include "memory units", residents diagnosed with dementia always live in secure environments. Numerical codes to open doors and elevators. The Sta...

Re: Exercise as Top Treatment
Good to hear this, Plumster! Many of you probably are tired of hearing this, but I am an 80 yr old 4/4 who has been exercising for an hour or more almost every day for the last 50 years. I get eight hours of sleep, have a healthy diet, and perhaps most importantly, I enjoy every aspect of those rout...

Yes, Dr. Michael Greicius of Stanford is the Neurologist that got me into the study in 2015-16, and I am still in it. I think a Dr. Henderson is now running this particular study.
