Re: Can't seem to get out of ketosis

Fiber, included in these numbers was in the 50-60 g/day range. What are your staples to help you get that much fiber? I think I may be overdoing it with fat. I love olive oil, avocados, and oily fish! I'll try to be cognizant about this. I'm fascinated by fasting too, but I'm also worried about my ...

Can't seem to get out of ketosis

I was on a ketogenic diet for about 5 months last year, then got burnt out and decided not to count macros or limit my carbs anymore. So it's been about 8 months off the keto diet. I've checked my blood with the KetoMojo over a 1/2 dozen times since then and I've never been below 0.4 no matter how m...

Re: Anyone else doing a low saturated fat Ketogenic diet?

Hey Tin Cup...I meant to ask a while back. Is it possible to eat resistant starches like Gundry recommends, and stay in mild ketosis the following day without an extended fast (16 hours+)?

Re: Anyone else doing a low saturated fat Ketogenic diet?

HI there McGido. I've been using the KetoMojo ketone meter, available on their website. It's the most affordable out there. They have lots of videos on how to use it. I imagine I'll use it less as I figure out how my body responds to fasting, eating more fat, playing with complex carbs specifically ...

Re: Anyone else doing a low saturated fat Ketogenic diet?

Hi Theresa! Thanks for the reply! That's super encouraging. I do use a meter (precision) to track both ketones and glucose. My numbers have been great (GKI < 3). I'm going to experiment with adding in more non starchy veggies to see if I can keep them there. I went from eating 8 cups+ veggies per da...

Anyone else doing a low saturated fat Ketogenic diet?

Hello! Look for others following the same path to share ideas. I've been on a ketogenic diet for 1 week as of today. I did this because one, I'm a nutritionist and it's my duty to try out any diet I would recommend, and two, I've been experiencing cognitive issues for well over 3 years now. I must s...

Re: Teaching a class- need your input!

Thanks everyone! Wonderful suggestions. I'm going to give homework at the end of each class as a way for them to work on building new healthy habits. 12/3 will definitely be given out at the first class. That's a relatively easy one. I can probably work sleep tips into that class too, since I will b...

Teaching a class- need your input!

Hello everyone! I'm new here and very happy to have found you all. I'm a nutritionist and I teach cooking and wellness classes around specific topics. I was inspired after reading The End of Alzheimer's to put together a 3 part, introductory series for folks in my area. I have a passion for getting ...
