Re: 4/4 teenager

That is good advice, thank you, and in line with what I was thinking. Time is on his side here so getting him to eat healthy is a great start. Good advice on concussions too. He has not had one yet although he took a line drive in baseball to the face this year. He plays baseball and basketball but ...

4/4 teenager

What would you do if you found out your 14 year old is a 4/4? Too young to tell him .... too young to understand .... what supplements should I get in to him now to start protection and what should I be incorporating into his diet at home .... without telling him why ...

Re: Air fryer to prepare food with olive oil

Thanks everyone for the replies. Sounds like I need to give this some more thought. Circular, your thoughts make sense to me - and deep down I figured it was too good to be true anyway. Oh well. I do have an Instant Pot and like it, so I will focus on that. Thanks too for the avocado oil suggestion ...

Is there a safe high heat cooking oil for an ApoE 3/4?

In reading Dr. Bredesen's book it sounds like I should limit coconut oil and lean more toward olive but that doesn't work with the high heat with the oxidation issue, correct?

Anything else good? Avocado?

Thanks!

Diet question - ApoE 3/4 and cholesterol lower (152 total)

I'm ApoE 3/4 and my total cholesterol is 152, almost low according to Bredesen's book. LDL is 82 and HDL is 57. I assume I should be trying to bring up my HDL and keep my LDL low right in order to boost that total value? Any advice or information on this welcome. I know it's a key piece of this.

Re: Air fryer to prepare food with olive oil

Ok thank you! So one option I can look into is that you set the temperature yourself on the air fryer. So I suppose I could keep the heat setting under 350 when using olive oil. My guess is that might take away from the crispy, blackened texture and make them taste more on the baked side, but probab...

Re: Air fryer to prepare food with olive oil

Which leads me to another question .... is the consensus that EVOO is ok to cook with or are there any concerns about oxidation ? Thanks

Re: Air fryer to prepare food with olive oil

Hi Julie. You can use as much or as little oil as you want - if you’re trying to lose weight or reduce fat you could use a tiny amount. If you’re trying to be in ketosis you can use a lot I suppose. They come out crispy and a little blackened - kind of like roasting at high heat in the oven. Truly d...

Re: Hello and happy to have found you!

Thanks Jan. I will take a look at their websites. Thankfully I have an excellent functional medicine doctor that I trust on my side, but he appreciates when I do my research and bring up other doctors' viewpoints and insights!
