Dental X-rays
I was wondering if getting too many dental x-rays can be harmful to those of us with the 4/4 Gene. It seems that every time I go they want to do x-rays, and I’m concerned that two or three X-rays a year may be concerning. TIA.

Re: Both parents carry APOE4
Out of 7 siblings, ages 72 to 60, only one is thinking about getting tested. The others don’t want to know or think the test is wrong because of our family history.

Both parents carry APOE4
I have the APOE4 Gene. With all the reading I’m doing I realize that I inherited it from both parents. Neither of my parents had AD, they were 73 and 75 when they passed. No one in my entire large family had AD. That includes both sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins, on both sid...

Re: Finally accepting my 4/4 news
Thank you all for your responses. And yes, my mother had high BP and higher than normal cholesterol, as do I, which Is why I think she did the testing. Along With the 4/4 Info I also learned I have an extremely high LDL-p number as well. So now I really don’t have a choice but to deal with it. I hav...

Question about stevia...
Besides carrying the 4/4 Gene, my blood work also showed I was at risk for insulin resistance, which was another shock, (but not quite as electrifying as the 4/4 news), which surprised me because I’m not much of a sweet eater. I’m not one to eat desserts , cakes, candy or anything like that but I am...

Re: Best diets for 4/4’s
Wow! I actually looked at the script for my blood work, after the fact of course, and my Dr had the genetic APOE block checked off. I’m thinking she did it because it shows a gene that may put you at risk for heart disease? I just don’t know. Like you, it changed my life too, and I’m so thankful for...

Mediterranian Diet, questions
Hi, I want to start the Mediterranian diet, but my Dr told me to cut down on sugars because I’m at risk for insulin resistance. The Med diet allows breads, yogurt and other things that contain sugar, so I’m not sure that’s the way to go for me. I also plan to incorporate the Mind Diet because that s...

Re: Finally accepting my 4/4 news
Anna, I was livid!! I thought I was just going for my yearly blood work. I knew she wanted to get extra info on maybe my cholesterol or blood pressure which she did, but the genetic testing?? I had no idea!! I was shocked when she told me that. I was sick, my daughters are worried, we’re worried for...
