If you're strictly following Bredesen and want to gain weight, the only options are to eat more nuts, avocados, olives, etc. Whole foods plant based fats.
Otherwise, you could just add grains and tubers. No harm in carbs unless you have a medical condition that prohibits them.

Re: Carbohydrates and Longevity
I was referring to this 7/2018 article https://www.jneurosci.org/content/38/30/6665 It's a similar conclusion to the 2002 study, we've known different APOE genotypes metabolize glucose differently, but there are no conclusions stating that glucose is bad for APOE4. In fact, low GI carbs seem to be ...

Re: Carbohydrates and Longevity
So I agree that different people handle carbs differently, but I personally believe E3 is a response to higher carbs in the diet of early man. Other apes have E4. If anything, prevalence of E3 is a response to increased fat-rich meat consumption, thus requiring a more efficient means of shuttling c...

Re: More questions about diet
Sorry, I'm just so confused. This topic seems to have been beaten to death but I still don't know what is even reasonable. There are so many constraints that it's hard to believe this is actually healthy. There are too many constraints. I suggest not following them. I was in your shoes when I found...

Re: Carbohydrates and Longevity
Different people handle carbs differently, and there are many other genes that are more influencial for this than APOE4.
I'm surprised so many people think that a single gene should dictate their entire diet.
In general, carbs are great fuel for a healthy and active lifestyle.

Re: HeartMath
I know we've chatted about this on and off in the past, but I couldn't find a thread specifically devoted to the topic. I've recently purchased and begun using this... and I'm a little frustrated with it. I purchased it specifically to monitor heart rate variability (HRV). There's a decent body of ...

I tried looking up C677T on my 23andme raw data. Nothing came up. I Googled C677T and saw it equated to RS1801131 and RS1801133. I am RS1801131 = GT and RS1801133 = AG I don't know how to interpret these results. Starfish77 E4/E4 rs1801133 is C677T, according to SNPedia: https://www.snpedia.com/ind...

Re: Diet: Keto vs. Paleo vs. Bredesen
I am new to the website, just having found out about my 4/4 status a few weeks ago. I am trying to figure out my new diet/food regimen, so any insights or personal experience would help. I'm in a similar situation as you - not wanting to lose weight, similar height, weight, BMI. I found out a few m...

Re: Super Immunity in General?
Found out recently that I am Apoe4/4 - am not too distressed, as - I am just going to continue to research and do the best possible things for it. My question to the group, is anyone who is 4/4 - seemingly immune to colds and flu's etc? At 45 I can maybe count on one hand how many colds I have had,...

Re: Excess metals in diet
Iron and copper are problems when they are consumed with lots of saturated fats: https://nutritionfacts.org/video/alzheimers-disease-copper-and-saturated-fat/ They cited some good sources. That's a whole foods plant-based website, those guys hardly eat any fat at all (they even shun EVOO). On a HFL...
