Thanks so much — I will listen the podcast.
My LDL is a little high (3.4 mmol). I didn’t realise there was an a connection to apoe4.

Re: How important is the ApoB/A Ratio?
Thanks Teresa; I fully agree with you — fortunately the doctor who analysed my results did give me a much fuller picture and didn’t just focus on the apoB ratio. I guess I wasn’t very clear in my original post — apologies. What I’m more interested is whether the ApoB-ApoA ratio is more significant t...

How important is the ApoB/A Ratio?
I haven't posted on here in while -- I'm not sure why, given that this site is like an oasis of sanity on the internet! I recently had some bloodwork done and I was fairly pleased with the results -- especially the ApoA: ApoB ratio, which I understand is powerfully predictive of cardiovascular disea...

Re: Failing to Dent LDL
Ah. I understand. I am fortunate to have a cardiologist friend who took an interest in my case. I'd be happy to ask about this the next time I see him - maybe get his thoughts on that chart. I’d appreciate it! In lieu of access to experts, I’ve offered myself to the altar of the algorithm; it’s not...

Re: Failing to Dent LDL
I'd be very skeptical of that chart. Maybe get another opinion from a cardiologist, or better yet an expert on lipids. Some one you could talk about particle sizes, oxidation, apolipoprotein ratios, etc. I should. The problem is that the NHS (wonderful as it is) doesn’t really provide easy access t...

Maybe the website explains more....

Re: Failing to Dent LDL
I found it interesting that insidetracker had the optimum range of LDL down to zero! That seems extreme to me. As individuals, we have to muddle our way through...and we all learn together. Ha! Less is presumably not always better! Muddle through indeed; after many days of googling, I feel more con...

Hi Alex, I've used the quotation mark in the top right corner of each post to quote both you and slacker, so that she sees that you have responded to her post. Our free forum software is not as smart as email systems that automatically send a reply to someone's inbox. Here you have to use the quoti...

Re: Failing to Dent LDL
Hi Slacker! I hope you’re well. Oh, really? I’m pretty clueless about these things. This website, http://www.insidetracker.com, runs an algorithm on your bloodwork and churns out a result. In the attached image you can see that my ldl is creeping up over time and outside of what they consider my ‘op...

Failing to Dent LDL
Hello I’m feeling frustrated that neither a plant sterol supplement nor daily bowls of porridge seem to improve my ldl-cholesterol; I’m wondering if my 1 apoe 4 allele has anything to do with it. I’ve been using insidetracker.com to gauge my bloodwork: hdl is ok (62 mg/dl) but my ldl is getting wors...
