Re: Donanemab and Lecanemab

This was just published today. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37676096/ Lecanemab (Leqembi) is not the right drug for patients with Alzheimer's disease "In this 18-month trial, lecanemab did not slow cognitive decline in women. This is especially significant because women have a twofold increa...

Re: Donanemab Significantly Slowed Cognitive and Functional Decline in Phase 3 Study of Early Alzheimer's Disease

These results look very similar to Lecanumab. The ARIA is still really high. 1 in 200 die from the treatment in an 18 month period? For a chronic treatment, this is REALLY high. And ARIA will be much higher likelihood for an E4/E4. I do like the idea of stopping this treatment when certain biomarker...

Re: Very Good Peter Attia podcast

In case anyone missed it, Rhonda Patrick was on his latest podcast ("The Drive"). They talked about a lot of things, but the majority was related to Alzheimer's. Podcast dated May 1, 2023.

Re: Celebration Thread TrueBinding Galectin-3

I've been following this quite closely for the last 12 months or so. The data is very impressive! IF it is true, then this would be a huge breakthrough. Big 'IF', though. Full disclosure: I'm consulting with another biotech that is also pursuing this axis of biology for AD. There are a lot of questi...

Re: Very Good Peter Attia podcast

This was a really great podcast. I learned a few things, including 2 potential predictors of future Alzheimer's that I had never heard of before: 1) Acting out your dreams (like kicking and punching in your sleep) and, 2) loss of smell and taste. She said that these can appears a decade or more befo...

Re: Lecanemab approved!

I wish this were cause for celebration. Lecanamab is covered in this retrospective: The Reason There's Been No Cure for Alzheimer's. Pretty brutal, but honest assessment. Thanks for sharing that. I think amyloid may have a role in disease, but not at the near exclusion of all other theories. I was ...

Re: Lecanemab approved!

J11, You were the original poster and super proponent for the adulhelm "celebration" thread on this website. I was the Negative Nancy (or Debby Downer?) in that thread and said that the FDA approval was a major mistake and that the drug would never be reimbursed by payers. Turned out I was...

Re: Lecanemab approved!

I think this is another poor decision by the FDA, but not as bad as for Aduhelm. I also don't expect payers (insurers and Medicare, etc.) to pay for this drug due to it's very marginal efficacy data. I have been studying this antibody very extensively over the last few months and I've discussed thes...

Re: Celebration Thread! Biogen is going to the FDA with Aducan.

"Dr. Aaron Kesselheim, a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, said the agency’s decision on Biogen “was probably the worst drug approval decision in recent U.S. history,” according to his resignation letter obtained by CNBC."

Yikes.

Re: Celebration Thread! Biogen is going to the FDA with Aducan.

Update to the biospace.com article : Third member of advisory committee quits over aducanumab approval https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/10/third-member-of-prestigious-fda-panel-resigns-over-approval-of-biogens-alzheimers-drug.html Maybe the celebration thread isn’t the best place to be posting this :o ...
