Relief: Alzheimer's Clinic Says That I Don't Have Alzheimer's
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment in August of this year after several years of memory issues. Today I had an appointment with Dr. Joseph Masdeu at the Nantz Alzheimer's Clinic in Houston. I spoke to Dr. Masdeu after doing some brief memory testing with a psychologi...

Re: Optimum Pregnenolone Level?
Can anyone who has successfully boosted their pregnenolone level share what brand of supplement they used?
As I noted, I've been taking the 100 mg LEF pregnenolone caps daily for months and still have an almost nonexistent blood level.

Re: Optimum Pregnenolone Level?
Jean, I haven't perceived any changes since I began supplementing with pregnenolone. Julie, I don't know whether the increased DHEA levels come from the pregnenolone or if they result from changing my brand of DHEA supplement -- I switched from Vitamin Shoppe DHEA to LEF. The nurse practitioner I sp...

Optimum Pregnenolone Level?
I'm hoping that some of you can give me some guidance on the optimum level of Pregnenolone for cognitive support and neuroprotection. For several weeks I have been supplementing with LEF Pregnenolone, 100 mg daily on an empty stomach. I chose this rather high dose because other online sources said t...

If you copy and paste the shortcut below into your address bar, you will be able to access a study titled "Pterostilbene, But Not Resveratrol, Is A Potent Neuromodulator in Aging and Alzheimer's Disease". http://www.longecity.org/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attac...

Re: Resveratrol found to activate ancient stress response and at 1,000 times lower doses
Circular, I don't know much about that phenomenon (paradoxical effects of antioxidants at high doses). I have seen it referred to at www.Longecity.org where many posters seem to have academic training in biochemistry.

Re: Resveratrol found to activate ancient stress response and at 1,000 times lower doses
Julie, the study actually used 2,000 mg of resveratrol daily, so this is a megadose in comparison to what most supps contain. This kinds of seems parallel to the UCLA study where they're using 8 400 mg caps of Longvida circumin. Just as antioxidants can become pro-oxidant at a high enough dosage lev...

Re: Resveratrol found to activate ancient stress response and at 1,000 times lower doses
Thank you for sharing this study, Circular. The results seem to raise some red flags about supplementing with resveratrol. What I find disturbing is the fact that brain volume loss was greater in the treated (resveratrol) group than in the placebo group. At first I wondered whether I was misreading ...

Re: Mitochondrial Dysfunction in E4 carriers
Juliegee, I waited a little while to answer your question because the last couple days I've had a little bit of hypomania, and not the pleasant or productive kind either. I think it may be the MCT oil, since citicoline will keep me awake if I take it late in the day but has never caused me to react ...

Re: Mitochondrial Dysfunction in E4 carriers
Several months ago, Apod posted a link to this study which claims that decanoic acid (C10, a medium chain triglyceride) not only improves mitochondrial function but actually increases the number of mitochondria: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24383952 Since I was planning to begin using MCT oil ...
