reaction speed and brain health.

Iv`e heard that faster reaction speeds are associated with good brain health. Is there any strong evidence to support this theory? Iv`e been wondering if taking up one of the martial arts would help protect against alzheimers. I know that fast reaction times helps prevent falls, which is another thi...

4/4 centenarians?

I`m wondering if there are any 4/4s out there who have actually managed to reach the age of 100 years and still remained cognitively healthy. If there are, it might give me some reassurance that DNA isn`t destiny.

Re: Anxious and fearful

I can relate to that! My mother`s side of the family had several members who dropped dead from heart disease early in life.My mother developed angina in her early 40`s, so I`m pretty sure she`s the one to blame for giving me my single copy of apoe4. So far I`m in reasonable health apart from develop...

Re: Is apoe4 an evolutionary mistake?

It sounds like the so called second childhood of late life senility. I don`t look forward to being a child again because my past was miserable and I have no wish to re live it. This is another reason why I`m so terrified by my apoe4 status.

Is apoe4 an evolutionary mistake?

Considering all the trouble and ill health apoe4 causes, I wonder if it`s a mistake of nature because it doesn`t actually seem to haveany advantages whatsoever. :?:

Re: Blood Test for Alzheimer

Why would anyone want such a test. I most definitely wouldn`t want to know if I was going to develop AD because there`s no cure.

mothers of male children.

Iv`e recently read that women who have given birth to male children have a lower risk of AD as a result of having male DNA left behind by the male fetus in the mother`s brain.Has anyone else seen articles of this sort. Another article I,ve seen claims that people with group o blood are less prone to...

Healing the brain from past abuses.

I may have mentioned that in my 20`s and 30`s, I partied a lot with alcohol and some drugs. I was hooked on benzodiazapines for a few years. Now I wonder if because of all this I could have done irreperable damage to my brain and the lifestyle changes that I made in the 90`s may be too late.

Re: Avoid Air Pollution

How can you avoid air pollution when you live in a city and moving to the country isn`t an option?
