Re: Biomarker Test for "measuring" one's state-of-health

Kristina, I recently discovered as a medical research volunteer that I have severe sleep apnea. Very surprised, as I am 72 and thought I was a normal sleeper. I meditate, do four yoga classes per week, walk 1 to 2 hours per day, resistance train, use the sauna most days of the week, and eat low carb...

Re: Just discovered I'm 4/4

I don’t know what the false positive rate is for APOE4. An error could occur in obtaining the raw data or in the analysis and reporting results. How...

Re: 'Brain Imaging, APOE & the Preclinical Course of Alzheimer's Disease Study'

...That’s good perspective donbob. On the one hand I’m interested in helping, on the other hand I already have constant tinnitus, so getting in an MRI every two years probably isn’t wise for me. Maybe another study will work better for me. You are right about protecting your hearing. I also have ti...

Re: 'Brain Imaging, APOE & the Preclinical Course of Alzheimer's Disease Study'

Brain Imaging, APOE & the Preclinical Course of Alzheimer's Disease Study I was willing to travel every two years to get the MRI and PET scans, but after talking to their front person for prospective participants, I'm miffed that she could not adequately articulate whether I would have access t...

Re: Science based 'Genius Gym' app to promote simultaneous physical and cognitive challenge

Well at least you can sign up for the beta release at the Genius Gym website . I learned about this in an Evolving Past Alzheimer's podcast with the researcher behind the app, Sarah McEwen, PhD. (There's a link to the podcast on the Genius Gym page.) In the interview she says she expects the app to...

Re: High Calcium Score

I just received a calcium artery score of 255! I am shocked because my cholesterol numbers were very good in September: HDL 78 VLDL 9 LDL 105 total cholesterol: 192 Triglycerides: 46 Total Chol/HDL: 2.5 Is it reasonable that cholesterol could be so good but the calcium score so high? Does this mean...

Morton’s Lite Salt gives me potassium in the correct proportion to sodium. About $2 for 64 grams of sodium and 78 grams of potassium.
