Re: Question on the Bredesen protocol for Dementia, not Alzheimers
I have MCI that is Alzheimer's. I have "diffuse" amyloid throughout. Dementia is the next stage after this. Your husband may not have dementia. My biggest difference with the Bredesen protocol is that I follow a Keto-MIND diet (see post). Regular, consistent exercise is very important. I t...

Re: Concern for sister abruptly stopping Aricept
I have been on Aricept for roughly 15 months. In the first few months I had very vivid dreams which have now ceased. I have read that Aricept is not curative and I would probably do just as well without it. I have also been told the effectiveness lasts only about 3 months. I use a "ketoMIND&quo...

Re: Men with BPH and APOE4
My BPH has very significantly declined over the last 18 months. I attribute this primarily to the significant attention that I have paid to reducing all sources of inflammation. At the same time my arthritis has also significantly declined. As near as I can tell my cognition has not declined. I am t...

Re: The dark side of curcumin
Longvida and Theracurmin brands of curcumin share some similarities. They are both nanoparticulate formulations. Both are being studied at UCLA. The Longvida trial is scheduled to complete this year. Dr. Small's UCLA study reported last year (see other post) used 180 mg/day of Theracurmin. I have be...

UCLA people
UCLA is a big place with lots of people. Dale Bredesen was one of them who suggested curcumin use. It is not helpful to talk about UCLA generically or about "curcumin." We now have lots of information on curcumin products and it is best if they are referred to specifically rather than gene...

Curcumin and Rapamycin
Apparently both curcumin (mTORc1 and mTORc2) and rapamycin (mTORc1) have somewhat similar neurogenic promise. A review has been recently published, “Tau and mTOR: The Hotspots for Multifarious Diseases in Alzheimer’s Development,” Frontiers in Neuroscience, vol 12, 2019 (on-line). Some studies that ...

Re: Lifelong ketosis considerations?
I have been in mild ketosis for about a year. I hope to live many more years. I currently plan to be in ketosis for the rest of my life. Are there any issues, concerns, questions, medical consequences for lifelong ketosis? Does anyone have years of ketosis experience to share? What routine medical ...

Re: New Neuro regeneration article
I have been assuming/hoping that neuro regeneration is possible. The Theracurmin that I am taking is reportedly reducing my amyloid deposits and tau tangles. I am mentally envisioning this as taking a scab off of a scratch. The underlying tissue needs regeneration. And, I am glad to hear that there ...

Re: Any NORCAL folks interested in a get together?
Congratulations for getting this started Mike. I suspect there might be many others in SF/Oakland area that will show interest if you are successful. Marin is a little outside my zone so I hope I can ride with you.
