Re: Apoe 4/4 and high triglycerides
I am also a fairly new member of about 1 year. I take a statin but it has little impact on my Triglycerides. I have had high Triglycerides for years (nothing as high as yours but I am also e3/e4). I made a significant impact on mine this year by reducing my intake of added sugar to about 15 g per da...

Re: Hi. I’m new here.
I am also relatively new to this site, will be also 59 next month. First off, do you know your APOE status? I learned mine through 23 and me. Your family history certainly is concerning but I think it is important to know your risk factors. I am taking a little slower more directed approach. I also ...

Bilirubin 1.5 (norm 0.0 - 1.2) (gather this could be liver/gallbladder beginning issue?) Likely nothing to worry about. I was diagnosed with Gilberts almost 30 years ago. Through those three decades, my liver numbers vary from completely normal to mild elevations in both bilirubin and liver enzymes...

Re: Aluminum as a causal factor of Alzheimer's - Introduction of myself to the community
Ugh, I just saw that the 75 mcg of levothyroxine I've been taking for my hypothyroid for the past 20 years has aluminum lake. Geez, I feel sometimes like I take two steps forward and 5 steps backwards with everything there is to think about and do. I can't not take this medication... I guess I coul...

My mother died at 42 of a heart attack as did her mother also at 42. I am e3/e4 and will always wonder if they were e4/e4. When my mother died, the medical examiner ordered an autopsy. In his words, "42 year old women who look like this (5'8" and 135 lbs) do not drop dead of heart attacks....

Thyroid I'm not sure the TSH drop is all that significant. My TSH wanders all over the place. But having both of them high is significant. I'm wondering if at my lowish BMI, do we expect TSH to be in the 5's or is it time to increase my thyroid meds? All I can say is wow, with a TSH of 5, I would b...

Saunas and sweat
Odd question here. I have seen mention of saunas in many discussions and have done a search on this site and gotten 219 hits. Looked in the wiki but haven't found a real discussion on the benefits of saunas, sweat and the science behind it. My reason for asking is also odd. I recently had to add a s...

Re: I guess I'll be taking a statin
I am a 58 year old woman and I have taken a statin since I was 40 years old. I had some side effects of muscle pain for a couple weeks but that went away. My reason was very simple, both my mother and grandmother died of heart attacks at 42 years old. This is not normal but it is my story. I only di...

Re: Just learned I carry one APOe4
I was not informed what the other APOe variant is. You can determine your other APOE variant by using your raw data from 23 and me. Go to 23 and me and down load your raw data. Do a find of that data set for these two numbers (these are mine) - • rs429358(C;T) • rs7412(C;C) The C's and T's are your...
