Re: Baseline NMR results for this 4/4
Not bad, cardiolvr! Considering your TGs are normally in the 300-500 range, this is a huge improvement. Even your LDL-P is well below the 50%ile. Why do you want to take a statin? Let me make some emphasis on the how my trigs go from 300+ to the 100s when my BMI goes below 29. I can't tell ...

Re: Diet Doctor recipes
Also what is confusing is that I'm trying to lose weight and count calories but stuff I've read says if you do keto you don't really need to count calories and other stuff I've read even says counting calories isn't the way at all. I get so confused with conflicting information. I think this is a c...

Re: Baseline NMR results for this 4/4
Hi cardiolvr. Welcome. Thanks for sharing. You'll get loads of good advice about these numbers here. I had a somewhat similar experience. So I'll simply suggest two things to consider. 1. a calcium scan. They aren't very expensive (in my area ~$100) and will give you an idea of how intensely you ne...

Re: Lipid Panel Blood Test $15, limited time
1) Additional savings on Walkinlab with coupon 'HONEY15'. This even works with NMR lipoprofile test that will bring it down to $85ish 2) FYI, Ultalabs test is usually cheaper all the time on their lipid+glucose panel. $13 + $8 blood draw fee. https://www.ultalabtests.com/quest/Shop/Items/Item/Lipid-...

Re: Cost comparison: different sources of phospholipid-bound omega-3
I was under the impression that Omega 3 eggs just had the ALA form of omega 3 because the chickens were fed flax seeds. Eggs actually have some DHA. A regular egg has about 20mg of DHA (https://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/dairy-and-egg-products/117/2). When the chicken is fed with flaxseed that ha...

Re: Cost comparison: different sources of phospholipid-bound omega-3
This brand of Krill oil (naturemyst krill oil), claims to have 101mg of DHA per capsule at $0.283/capsule (is it all DHA-PL?) . The cost per gram would be $2.83 which would be competitive with the omega 3 eggs and salmon.

Re: Cost comparison: different sources of phospholipid-bound omega-3
Nice cost/DHA content research. Interesting to see that at the end of the day the cheapest/easiest way to get the most DHA-PL is through salmon and eggs.

Re: wild salmon?mercury
anybody know if wild salmon typically contains any mercury ? okay to eat it nearly every day, as long as omega6/omega3 ratio stays above 1:1 ? thanx. L. I've read from multiple sources that it's the fish who are higher up in the food chain, and who tend to be bigger, that accumulate the most mercur...
