Re: Midwestern Meet-up 2017
I’m planning to go but it depends on when my wife finishes the marathon and how she feels. If the weather is as warm as it has been this past week then it will be a brutal race, but it is supposed to cool back down this week. If I make it it’ll probably be closer to noon.

Re: Midwestern Meet-up 2017
I live in the western suburbs and can make it in to Chicago on the Metra fairly easily, and can drive elsewhere in the area of necessary. I’ll be downtown for the Chicago marathon Oct 8 (my wife is running). I’m not sure i’ll be able to stick around afterward though.

Re: CSF Ferritin predicts cognitive decline in E4s
I don't see the value of checking the serum ferritin level. It does not tell you the brain iron status. I agree that serum (plasma) ferritin says very little about CSF ferritin. The original paper does not provide actionable information for non-researchers - it simply adds CSF ferritin to the well-...

Re: Midwestern Meet-up 2017
Hi Julie. I'm sure you remember me from the early days of the board. I still lurk a bit, debating on posting here and there but just seem to not do much of that anymore on most forums. Still, I'm around. I live in the far west Chicago suburbs and could easily do a Chicago area meetup. Keep me posted...

Re: Postprandial lipemia vs. glycemia
Aye, there's the nub. I don't believe we have enough settled science to confidently answer this question. And there is the extra complexity of the still not well understood mitochondrial defects in e4s. Hence the thought experiment. At this point I'll sate myself with intellectual discussion and ot...

Re: Postprandial lipemia vs. glycemia
To further complicate this issue... Fasting blood sugar seems to paradoxically run higher with a HFLC diet in spite of a lower intake of carbohydrates via physiological insulin resistance and the dawn phenomenon + low serum insulin. With a large fasting window, blood sugar would then be running at ...

Re: Postprandial lipemia vs. glycemia
And here's another - Is the diet, that got me to weight loss/better health dance, the one I stick with or do I swap dance partners because another one is better for maintenance in the long run? Along similar lines -- Is the diet that effortlessly brought me into peak physical condition, which I can...

Re: 1mo of 24hr CGM data streaming
When the results aren't clear, I can re-run the same foods with permutations on the variables until I see some sort of trend. I probably won't get as much out of it as I'm hoping, but maybe a few interesting things or tricks will be gleaned. I imagine many interesting things will come from this. It...

Postprandial lipemia vs. glycemia
Thought experiment: Assuming a mostly whole-foods diet with what we might assume are the best possible macronutrient sources, and assuming weight maintenance at a healthy/low-normal body weight, would it be better to follow a very low fat diet, a very low carb diet (possibly ketogenic), or a mixed d...
