Re: Ready to Quit

A bi late here - but I feel that intermittent fasting is a way to enjoy a range of whole/minimally processed foods. I fast 16 hrs/day most days. weekends are a bit lax and I generally follow up with a 20-24 hrs fast afterwards. I eat meat 2-3 times/week and salmon/fatty fish 2-3 times/week. Lots of ...

Re: Higher phosphatidylcholine protects against dementia

Ok. I've tried to read through your posts on this topic they make no sense to me. I'm not uneducated but I'm also not a scientist. Can you put this into plain English for the rest of us? Does current research indicate that we APOE 4/4s should be eating whole eggs daily? Yes or no. It's contested. :...

Re: Gene mutation evolved to cope with modern high-sugar diets

Wow - this is fascinating. I just found the original post when doing some research on something else. I was wondering if APOE4.info had anything and found this thread. I am a C/C and now feel sooooo much better about my carb eating. My carbs are 90+% whole grains with very little sugar. I probably e...

Glucose and insulin levels

Hi; Had a dr appt a couple weeks ago. My Fasting Glucose was 97mg/dl. It's been in the mid to upper 90's for several years now (I'm 67). My Insulin was 3.51 ulU/mL (normal listed as 1.90-23.00). Should I be concerned about that glucose level? It used to be mid to low 80's when I was younger. I gener...

High HDL

I have seen a few observational studies that reference HDL's higher than 56 mg/dl as being protective against Alzheimer's. Sorry I didn't grab the links. I tried searching on this site for any specific comments, but my search must be failing on this site. Anyway, my family on maternal side seems to ...

Re: Zero carb diet will help prevent Alzheimer’s

This is an interesting thread. I'm continually confused about what I should eat. I'm a 67 yr old female APOE 3/4 with no cognitive issues still working full time in the IT field. I'm not on the ketogenic bandwagon, but I do eat a lot of fat. My last total cholesterol was 224 with an HDL of 96, LDL 1...

Bredesen Protocol Effectiveness

I belong to a FaceBook Group that is for the Bredesen Protocol. It seems there are a lot of people who do not improve on the protocol. Is this true or is it due to how they implement it? Right now it seems like the best advice out there.

Re: Just confused and wondering

I just saw this reply - haven't been on the site for awhile. Thanks for the info. The Blue Zones populations fascinate me on a lot of levels.
