Alzheimer’s risk gene disrupts endocytosis, but another disease-linked gene could help

Astrocytes with the APOE4 gene variant show deficits of a key cellular function, but overexpressing the gene PICALM overcame the defect. https://news.mit.edu/2020/alzheimers-risk-gene-disrupts-endocytosis-another-gene-could-help-1006 I popped "PICALM" into my Promethease gene info and two ...

Rare, Genetic Form of Dementia Described

Thought this was very interesting...not just because of the new discovery, but because of the potential implications for AD: “What we found in this study is a pattern we’ve never seen before, together with a mutation that’s never been described before,” Lee said. “Given that this mutation inhibits V...

Re: Unfortunate side effect from melatonin.

I had a completely different side effect --- leg cramps. I was waking up, painful cramps, etc. Took a bit of similar detective work but finally tied it to melatonin. Because I'm stubborn I decided to be really sure so took it again. Yep, leg cramps. It is interesting how tiny pills or tablets can ha...

They will not ask you About your supplements at Quest. When you get the Recode Report, you’ll see where you stand in relation to target ranges. The report doesn’t give you the actual ranges, but they are listed in Dr, Bredesen’s new book. The ReCODE Report includes a page of suggested supplements. ...

Re: How long to stop taking vitamins, supplements before blood tests...

If you have some you are only taking because they sounded like a good idea based on a paper you read, those are certainly ones to try dropping before your tests. My best strategy has been to add supplements one per week, so if something happened, either good or bad, I could identify the likely sour...

Re: How long to stop taking vitamins, supplements before blood tests...

From people I've known who have received ReCODE reports, they have not stopped their usual dosage, and have similarly gotten recommendations when they need to move levels in one direction or another. I guess if the results come back "normal" in various ranges that would mean I need to kee...

How long to stop taking vitamins, supplements before blood tests...

I'm getting ready to do the blood testing for ReCode (Bredesen Protocol). I asked them the question as to how long I should stop taking my supplements before doing the blood tests to ensure accuracy. I want to find out what my real levels are on the tests, not what they are with supplements or to sk...
