Re: What supplements do you use and why?

That's great feedback CoachDD. I'm sometimes a bit naive in my enthusiasm. I'm only going to do my first round of blood tests next week so I don't know anything about my own situation yet. I'd just love to understand what considerations played a role in people's selection of supplements for problems...

What supplements do you use and why?

There are a lot of threads on the benefits of various supplements. Of course, many of them are expensive, and some are very specific to particular issues that come up in tests. I would love to see an overview of supplement decision rationale from you all, so we can learn from each other. I loved the...

Re: New (double E4) and research question about family history

So I would suggest that you consider putting yourself in your mom's place, and think of what her questions and reactions might be. (...) I strongly recommend looking at our section on Thinking About Testing and even asking your mother some of the questions. Thank you so much for your thoughtful rep...

Re: New (double E4) and research question about family history

Wow... have my mother’s results too. She’s 73 and has E4/E4. My dad 87 and E4/E3. Given that my mum drinks way too much I am almost surprised that she’s symptom free. It feels like she’s a ticking time bomb. Or she has other protective factors. I’ll need to break the news to her (she asked me to man...

Re: New (double E4) and research question about family history

Thank you Linda! I now have my dad's results, unfortunately through MyHeritage's new format which cannot be uploaded to Promethease, but from the description they gave in the health reports it looks like he has one E4 only. Good for him! Still awaiting my mother's results but expecting the same. Ind...

Re: Other factors may override E4 inverse association with longevity

That's very interesting. Anything where APOE4 is looked at individually against factors we can control is interesting I guess :)
Do you know if there's a public version of the full research doc? I couldn't find it.

Re: New (double E4) and research question about family history

how about added sugars and high fructose corn syrup? While I believe low carb is important, I think sugar and fructose will turn out to be the worse problem. Agree on sugar being far more important than other carbs especially if you don't have confirmed insulin resistance. Until his early 40s my da...

Re: Brain on a chip to model complexity of AD (or attempt I suppose)

Wow! I think the enthusiastic scientist in me is more triggered than the hopeful patient is though. I would expect that getting the methodology set up right with all the variables will take much more time and money than projected but who knows - and if such a thing ever did work they could research ...

Re: Carbs?

How are other folks handling the testing/supplement issue? Is anyone else breaking their fast for supps? This topic has been on my mind and it took me a while to find a thread that discussed it. I found another thread but this one seemed most on-topic. I try to finish dinner by 7pm and try to fast ...

Re: Where to get blood testing done in Sweden/Europe?

Could you talk your family doctor into ordering a comprehensive blood test for your mother, asking if she/he will let you indicate what you want to test your mother for? If you have a cooperative doctor who is willing to take the odd request from a respectful patient it may be as simple as that - th...
