Re: Two questions about genetics and APOE status

Wow, what a most helpful response! Thank you!! I will get in touch with 23andMe and ask them about that omission. They missed it for both me and my son and we did get the full product, not just ancestry.

Re: Contraindications for fish oil?

Thanks so much Floramaria. I will try to find more information. I'm depending on my cousins to listen to and remember everything the doctor says. I'll have to see how the next several weeks go in talking with them and getting this family member on a treatment plan before I decide whether it feels ri...

Re: Testing for APOE4 that's not 23andMe

Maybe my test was done earlier or something. Both mine and my son's rs7412 did not get a reading. A bit annoying given it's one of the primary ones I would want!

Two questions about genetics and APOE status

1. Awhile back I got my 23andMe data and it gave me my rs429358 reading as TT but my rs7412 shows as "- -". I believe this narrows down my APOE status possibilities as: E2/E2 E2/E3 or E3/E3 Aside from getting my genetics tested again, is there a way I can figure out my exact status given m...

Re: Testing for APOE4 that's not 23andMe

Did you get both APOE snps from 23andMe? I did my 23andMe (with a fake name!) awhile ago but I only got one of the two SNPs related to the APOE status. But even if 23andMe offers the full APOE status these days, I feel more comfortable going with another company and just getting the APOE stuff. It's...

Contraindications for fish oil?

A close family member is being treated for MCI and I am unable to go to her appointments due to long distance. Her doctor has put her on Memantine and an anti-depressant and took her OFF her fish oil. My cousin thinks it's because the fish oil is contraindicated but does not remember for certain. Is...

Testing for APOE4 that's not 23andMe

Has anyone done private genetic testing that's not through 23andMe? Worried about privacy issues with them and really this is the only variant I'm curious about for a family member.

Re: Dr. Peter Attia podcast on Alzheimer’s disease prevention

Funny, I came on this form looking for this exact thing. I believe they said that Lauren is taking 2000mg of DHA. I would love to know what it is! edit: I just subscribed to Peter Attia's membership. It does say she takes 2000mg of DHA, but doesn't specify which brand. A study mentioned uses a suppl...
