Re: Fish Oil
I chomp a little EPA and DHA, but I try to emphasize high quantities of plant-based omega-3s. (That, by the way, is what the references in Lara P.'s famous article support, even if the article itself says something diff.) GB, how much ALA? I've always got this pesky age-related macular degeneration...

Re: My version of a Ketogenic Diet
Interesting stuff, GB. CORRECTION: he absorbed less on the low fat diet -- at least that's the speculation on the CR lists. And then he added the bananas (making the diet even more low-fat). At least... I'm pretty sure. I'll check with him on the details and report back. Just to clarify, absorbed le...

Hi Skibike, While they may not be considered common (neither is apoE4/4), drugs have side effects besides their intended purpose. http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-64336-Zetia+Oral.aspx?drugid=64336&drugname=Zetia+Oral&source=0&pagenumber=6 ScreenShot740.jpg Also interactions: http://www.w...

Re: My version of a Ketogenic Diet
GB, I thought dietary constituents didn't matter on CR? They don't -- at least that's what the serious science says (about severe, or even just über-mild CR). So Dean is either an outlier, or, much more likely in his particular case (he's posted about this), he absorbs less when eating high(er) fat...

Re: My version of a Ketogenic Diet
By the way, on a related matter, see: http://arc.crsociety.org/read.php?3,219776,220094#msg-220094 I'm pretty sure Dean is ε3/ε3, by the way, though his results are what the standard wisdom says are more likely with ε4s. Adding the relevant portion here: For me, going from a diet of 39F/47C/14P (wi...

Wow, matcha is very expensive, at least for what I've found so far online. One example from in pursuit of tea is about $54 after shipping costs or about $4.50 per serving. For one serving per day means $135 per month, or $1620 per year.Juliegee wrote:A good substitution for that coffee might be matcha tea.

Some things to consider for those having trouble with RS ... Grace's (Dr. BG) thoughts on RS failures are that there are four main reasons why people can have a hard time when they first start an RS rich diet: 1. SIBO/SIFO—Small Intestine Bacterial or Fungal Overgrowths. RS utilizing bugs in the wro...

Re: Calorie restriction (CR)
Mark, are you practicing CR? Is this new to you or something you've gradually worked into? I haven't been, as described in The Longevity Diet. The anti-aging, vital years and maximum life extending, biomarker improving with life-long 25-50% calorie restriction is new to me. In the past, I've done s...

Re: My version of a Ketogenic Diet
I found it interesting that my 2nd PP was higher than my first One possibility might be measurement error, maybe not enough blood. I recently tried a glucose monitor and tried it twice in a row, because I didn't believe the first result, and the second result was much different. In my case, I think...
