Re: New 28 year old 3/4 with labs and a basic plan for how to move forward, looking for some feedback!

Since searching for specific topics on our site isn't always fruitful, here's a link to a recent conversation about which brands of curcumin/ turmeric other E4's have found useful (you only have to go through 2 pages of entries!):

Re: Zero CAC score = best predictor of No CVD

For anyone who's planning on going us in Boulder for our meet-up in August, George has arranged an opportunity for us to receive low radiation, low cost ($195-cash) EBT scans through Front Range Preventative Imaging. Email Lindsay at: heartscan@comcast.net to learn more and/or to make your appointm...

Re: Hello from the Antipodes

Welcome Jafa! If you've been lurking for a while :D , it's quite possible that you've already read Stavia's intro primer, which is a very helpful overview of the basics of cognition optimization. We don't all agree on everything, but try to support each other on our individual journeys towards healt...

Re: Curcumin not as effective in APOE4

Julie - thanks for taking my bait :D Please remind me (and everyone else) which product and dose you are taking. If memory serves, it's a Longvida product. Other tribe members are taking a Terry's Natural product, but I believe it has Boswellia in it as well, and I was looking for something with cur...

Re: Curcumin not as effective in APOE4

Interesting. I wonder if the results would be more positive for ApoE4 mice if given a higher dose of curcumin or a form that has greater bioavailability. Any N=1 human experiments out there in ApoE4.info land with improved cognition on some form of curcumin?

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women

The US package insert for prometrium includes a summary of small study (a little over 300 women with intact uterus) looking at endometrial changes on treatment. Women were on treatment up to 3 years. It compared 1) daily synthetic estrogen with prometrium 200 mg 12 days each month (cycled), 2) estro...

Re: New here - hello

Welcome EBK; you sound like a true seeker! You will find many other seekers here as well, and we don't always agree on what is the best approach. We all are in some form of what we call N=1 experiments, since what works great for one of us doesn't for another. Your initial post was wonderfully detai...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women

Yes, Nancy, it is very tricky stuff. Every treatment has potential for benefit and harm. In the hormone replacement quest for better quality of life and optimization of cognition, we run the risk of increasing our risk of endometrial cancer, breast cancer, stroke, blood clots... This said, I can not...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women

yes, Julie is correct about synthetic progestin in general and about Combipatch specifically. The bioidentical progesterone prometrium has good evidence of less adverse events - strokes and blood clots for example - in comparison to synthetic progestins. I posted more details on this earlier in the ...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women

Nancy: the hormone ratio is for everyone, not just E4s.

Julie: if Dr Hanaway isn't comfortable sharing her slides, the references alone would be great. I'd be interested to see if the references are updated from earlier in the year.
