Re: Plasmalogens- exciting new evidence

For figure 1 (D), the percentage chance for dementia for the three groups of APOE carriers as a function of HDL-R value, the reverse engineered x-axis of HDL-R values has new values of approximately 0.623 on the far left, 0.335 where the zero value currently is, and 0.144 on the far right. These ne...

Re: How can do the brain saving protocol on Medicaid?

- Eat once a day

- Eat the highest quality diet you can. Lots of vegetables, quality seafood/olive oil and avoid empty calories. Spend your money on food, not doctors.

- Exercise. Aerobic exercise is best.

Re: FrankA - new member

Please post some of historical your lipid results, glucose/diabetes markers, male hormone markers and maybe GGT. When you say atrophy in an MRI, was it against a prior baseline of your own MRI data or against a database cohort?

Re: K2 MK4

In Japan, K2 MK4 is a standard choice for treatment of osteoporosis. Dosing is usually 45 mg based on studies there. I only take 5 mg a day and have no cardiac issues and maybe some mild osteoarthritis.

Re: No cure for Alzheimer’s disease in my lifetime

Not sure I agree. There is a viral vector for ApoE4 homozygotes that is already being trialed.

I never really had high hopes for the Biogen drug.

Re: New labs... good, bad?? I’m looking for optimal numbers

Seems fine. Lpa appears high, but that is a feature of ApoE4 genetics. In general, aging makes everything worse because you gradually become slightly insulin resistant and systems biology just don't work as well as one ages. I'd also not that these label values are likely in a fasted state, which is...

Re: Designing an E4 Fasting trial...

Gallstone formation is a common occurrence in starvation and extended fasting. Whether or not it appears over the course over repeated 16-18 hr fasts, probably depends on a lot of factors. 1. In terms of meal timing, I think circadian rhythm biology (chronobiology) trumps all. If NAD+ slowly rises d...

Re: New 3/4 Guy Here

lp-pla2 has only been around for about 4 or 5 years. Most general doctors don't understand advanced lipid testing. You might have to go to a clinical lipidologist (https://www.lipidspecialist.org/findlipid/) to really dig into this stuff with granularity. That being said, you will probably also spen...

Re: New 3/4 Guy Here

Might be worth an LP-PLA2 test. Not sure it will be the be-all and end-all of answers for your higher particle count, but any kind of marker of inflammation that might give insight could be worthwhile, depending on your personal budget.

Maybe myeloperoxidase might be another avenue.

Re: LifeExtension- 50% off lab tests

I am curious about the efficacy of the Cardiocheck home lipid analyzer opposed to repeated laboratory lipid test costs. I ,like many here, have high lipids and trying to figure out the best diet, etc as well as having to self pay for those repeat tests ,would love to hear from others about their ex...
