Re: Hydrogen Sulfide SIBO

TheBrain, I’m sorry to hear that you have SIBO, but glad you were able to get an accurate diagnosis. I am definitely interested in hearing more about the testing you did, as I have unrelenting SIBO (classified as methane dominant). I have been trying to get rid of the overgrowth, which, in my case, ...

Re: Cholestyramine

I had a hard time finding the inactive ingredients as well. I found the Glenmark Pharmaceuticals version via DailyMed: https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=845b8661-0aa9-418f-a496-df3d7a3130ff. The one my pharmacy carries is made by Impax Generics: https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/da...

Re: Cholestyramine

I’ve been using Welchol for an extended period and my CIRS indicators have improved substantially. I take Welchol, despite the recent availability of some generics. All of the generics have inactive ingredients that aren’t in the brand Welchol, including things I would like to avoid (e.g., sodium la...

Re: huge increase in Lp(a) - suggestions?

NF52, thanks for the suggestions. I’ve been thinking about doing a coronary calcium scan, and probably will soon, but I don’t have access to a low radiation (EBCT) machine. Given my scan history, this is somewhat concerning to me. But I think the potential benefits outweigh the costs here. My cardio...

Re: huge increase in Lp(a) - suggestions?

KatieS, thanks for the response. I don’t have high HDL. In fact, when I started monitoring my lipids a few years ago it was low. Now it’s in the high 60s. I believe olive oil (I consume a lot) has made a big difference there. Good point on checking family members’ Lp(a). I know my sister’s is in the...

huge increase in Lp(a) - suggestions?

I have had a substantial increase in my Lp(a) level that coincided with the onset of perimenopause/menopause and I’m wondering if anyone has had something similar happen and/or has any recommendations. I had multiple tests prior to perimenopause and my Lp(a) was always in the normal range. It has be...

Re: Avoid Air Pollution

Instructions for cleaning my moldy furnace (paraphrased from report by Martine Davis, Indoor Environmental Testing, Inc., Madison, WI). 1. Remove furnace coil and accompanying drip pan from furnace and clean thoroughly. Make sure to clean the bottom and sides of the coil, which are not visible unles...

Re: Avoid Air Pollution

Circular, that's a good idea. I feel like I shouldn't post the full report for the reason you cited, but I will type up the instructions for furnace cleaning and post them here. Also, thanks for mentioning that insurance might cover the IQ Air. I'll have to look into that. They're just so expensive....

Re: Avoid Air Pollution

TheBrain, I just read your post about cleaning the HVAC system. I’m really sorry that your ERMI results were higher than what you had hoped. Were the molds detected ones that produce or ochratoxin or verrucarin A, or do you think that what you had in your system is from earlier environmental exposur...

Re: Mold and mycotoxins

Allyson, I read your posts about your positive mycotoxin test, which I found very interesting. I suspect that I’m in the same boat and that I got a false negative on my RealTime test. I’m so sorry that you have to deal with this, but glad for you that you have been able to pinpoint the likely underl...
