Re: Online Alzheimer's Afternoons Seminar Series

I haven't tried that yet but I think the directions are buried in those tweets. There has been only one recorded so far. I'll look into it and report back....

Online Alzheimer's Afternoons Seminar Series

For those interested in the nuts and bolts details of AD research I wanted to let you know of a Alzheimer's Afternoons Seminar Series that is occurring online during the COVID-19 shut down. It is focused on apoe. It is run by a group of researchers as a lab seminar series, organized via Twitter by A...

Update

My mom passed quietly yesterday. She was 76. It was an odd situation, with her care facility in lock down. No one had seen her in weeks, except by phone. It was just the end stage of the disease, nothing unexpected at this point. But she got good care and was able to be transferred out in time that ...

Re: How to change size of lipid particles

Hi Eric. Yes, I was on atorvastatin 20 or 40mg for 3-4 years. Before that my cardiologist had me on the high dose, slow release niacin - which has fallen out of favor now. I started to have the muscle issues that are sometimes associated with statins. 40 mg really was tough. After I got a clean calc...

Re: Risks and benefits of apoe2 vs apoe4 in a 5,000-person neuropathological study

Hi NF52. Thank you! I've been away from the site for a few days as I shut down my lab and started to transition to teaching online. My mom's memory care facility was locked down a few days ago - she is fine but of course I worry abut how all this will play out in the coming weeks. You are absolutely...

Re: How to change size of lipid particles

What I know, there are *correlated* with greater HDL: niacin, statins, higher estrogen/lower testosterone patterns in females vs. males (up until menopause). This is from memory, I haven't red about this in a year or so.

Risks and benefits of apoe2 vs apoe4 in a 5,000-person neuropathological study

Hello everyone, I don't know if this has been posted before. I didn't see it when I checked. This table: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-019-14279-8/tables/2 From this recent study: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-019-14279-8 Really brought me down. I guess it's been a while since I re...

Re: Blue Cross Plans Say Alzheimer’s Has Tripled Among Adults Ages 30 To 64

Hi. Thanks for sharing. The disconnect between the scale of the problem and the resistance to doing much of anything to reduce risk at the level of populations is disappointing. In our area we have horrible air pollution, mostly PM2, one of the older populations of any state, and high and increasing...

Re: 2019 review on APOE4 and AD

I read this. Thanks for sharing! It's a good overview of the current apoe4 research. It might be worth linking somewhere for new folks. I wish they were further along on these approaches to addressing apoe4 directly.
