Re: Fasting Glucose

That's an excellent thread and I made myself a copy of the first Chris Masterjohn document you linked to. Very helpful. I sometimes have to remind myself, though, that there is an optimal strategy for general health for the population as a whole, and then there is one modified in some way for Apoe 4...

Reasons I tweak* -- recent results

Found that this old thread was still around, so thought I would add my most recent numbers for basic lipids (NY won't let me order my own advanced lipid testing, so that will have to wait until I am out of state). It really ought to be in Our Stories, but I don't know how to move it. Total 209; HDL ...

Re: High blood pressure/AD considerations

Following up: Talked to the doctor, decided to finish out one month on the diltiazem and then switch to amlodipine. She was worried that it would be too "strong" and over-correct so will keep an eye on that. But based on what I've been able to find, it looks like the calcium channel blocke...

Re: Sleep!

This is an old story for me as well, but something in Wondering's post made me stop and think. I have the same pattern. Discipline and hygiene will get me to sleep, but then I wake up and, sometimes, stay up. My eating schedule seems to be tied in here as well. All are improving, and I've just had a...

I think I might have to clip and save that explanation. Thanks.

Blood pressure meds -- anticholinergic?

Hi, all. I just had to add a second BP medication to keep my (inherited) blood pressure under control, and tomorrow I need to see my doctor for the followup. I am worried about whether I should take this drug. It's a calcium channel blocker called DILT-XR for diltiazem. Looks like a good drug far as...

Re: Fasting Glucose

PS -- Hell, it may not even work for me! I don't know whether I should be focused more on ketones than blood sugar tests. I am just guessing and trying to play it safe.

Re: Fasting Glucose

Beth, what I meant was something along the lines of your sweet potato idea. What I do is count my carbs. I meant 30ish net carbs for maximizing ketosis and then breaking up periods of that with a 60 to 70 total once in a while. I'm not positive, but it looks like my blood sugar generally does better...
