Re: New Here just trying to figure this site out.

I'm new to the site and just trying to figure it out and hoping it will be a valuable information resource for myself and patients I work with. I've been working as a Healthcare Advocate, Case Manager, and Medical Writer for the last 20 years working with cancer and geriatric patients primarily and...

Re: New member needing support

Hello. Ben here. I am new to this site, would like to introduce myself, and get some suggestions from members. I could use some moral support, too, as it feels like I am fighting the medical profession and pretty much everyone else. Short version: I am currently caring for my wife, Carole, 73 years...

Re: 23andme says I have apoe3/4 and Ancestry says I have apoe3/3

I had my DNA tested by 23andme and Ancestry.com. I got the results back from 23andme first. They showed that I have the apoe3/4 gene. I got the results from Ancestry a few weeks later and they showed I have apoe3/3. I'll admit I'm surprised by the other differences between the two tests. I've compa...

Re: How long after eating before authophagy starts?

Great question. I tired to find the same answer. But could not find anything definitive. Hopefully, one day there is a test. In the meantime I have come to the conclusion to have reasonable confidence I get into autophagy it must be a fast over 48 hours. It would be logical to assume it would also ...

Re: New ApoE 4/4- overwhelmed but coping

Hi all, I am 31 and just found out last week that I am 4/4 through 23andMe and I am still dealing with the emotional aftermath. I was especially shocked at the results as I have no history of dementia in my family with 3/4 grandparents living beyond age 84 (without cognitive dysfunction) and my pat...
