Re: APOE 3/4 - Gundry Protocol - Elevated LDL-P and APO-B

I just came across this paper shared by Ivor Cummins who has done a lot of great work in the lipid space as far as being a skeptic of the cholesterol hypothesis for CVD. The paper focuses on using Apo B/Apo A1 ratio as being a very strong predictor of CVD. He mentioned something similar on the LIvin...

Re: DHA supplement versus eating fish

I always buy the Season sardines in olive oil since they are often on sale. I buy them by the case when they are on sale. I'd imagine the olive oil isn't very good quality so I rinse the olive oil off before eating them in my salads. I've also been leery of the quality of added olive oil in canned ...

Re: APOE 3/4 - Gundry Protocol - Elevated LDL-P and APO-B

One more followup as I just got my APO B results back. APO B dropped by 50% and is now in the optimal range. So APO B is fully under control at 66 mg/dl. LDL-P is in the low 1200 range. My doc wanted to bump up Crestor from 5mg to 10mg because my LDL-C is 83 mg/dl and she wants it below 70 mg/dl. I ...

Re: Does anyone else use a rebounder?!

Jump rope is not recommended for anyone with degenerative disk disease( which is basically everyone over 60) unless you are a very experienced jump roper(like boxers) and can jump with very little impact. Thanks! Well, I'm 63  , but have jumped since I was a little kid & used to teach (35 ...

Re: DHA supplement versus eating fish

Anyone else eating mackerel and/or sardines regularly? Lots of Wild Planet sardines in water. One of my favorite fast meals when I'm quite hungry but have to get going: I put sardines on a plate with a bunch of avocado. I drizzle good olive oil on the sardines and salt them, then I splash balsamic ...

Re: Non-stick pans

Funny enough Dr Gundry just released a new video on this topic. His go to is stainless steel but he said ceramic and enamel coated are OK.

Re: Sweets

The one sweet I see Gundry and Valter Longo recommend is dark chocolate. They generally prefer 70% cocoa content or greater and Longo recommends chocolate with no added sugar. Granted it won't be sugary sweet and will be quite bitter but it does contain polyphenols so there is some potential benefit...

Re: San Diego Meet Up

I'd be interested in participating. I just finished a two month test diet and am back on the Gundry diet so a keto lunch or some form of physical activity sounds good to me!

Re: DHA supplement versus eating fish

I do both, although I cut back from eating a can of sardines in every one of my salads. That was 7 servings of sardines per week! When I checked my DHA and EPA levels this summer they were both well within the reference ranges for low risk (5.6 for DHA and 1.5 for EPA). My Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio w...

Re: eating 2 cups of nuts . too much fat? CALORIES?

I was eating a lot of macadamia nuts and consuming nearly a liter of olive oil a week when I was following the Gundry protocol. I was going through an 8oz container of macadamia nuts every couple days! I didn't have any negative experience other than the diet can get very monotonous and it can be to...
