It will be interesting to see whether she has modified her carb recommendations in her new book.

I wondered the same!

This is good news. I can stop my thoughts and meditate all week and just check in with you periodically to see what I would have been thinking :D We can take turns

Re: The XX Brain - A New Book by Lisa Mosconi at Weill Cornell

Dr Mosconi published a book on nutrition called "Brain Food" 2 years ago, and has been mentioned/discussed on our website in the past (if anyone is interested in learning more about her approach before buying the new book!) Thanks for the heads up. I see in this thread she has promoted th...

Re: podcast: Gastropod: Can Diet Stop Alzheimer’s?

Thanks, Brian. I look forward to a listen. I was an early fan of Lisa Mosconi; even got to have lunch with her and Stephan Cunane in NY, but have been largely disappointed with her diet recommendations. She has a good handle on the reduction in cerebral glucose utilization issues for our genotype (...

Re: Just discovered I'm 4/4, rocked.

That sucks but there are other genes that help offset the risk. Did you check these out: Picalm rs3851179 and Cd33 rs3865444? I don't have the alleles written down but SNPedia will have them. I was also reading that one of the FOXO3 genes might have a protective interaction as well. I can try and f...

Re: Just discovered I'm 4/4, rocked.

There is one gene CETP rs5882 (g/g allele is best) that is able to modify the risk of apoe4 anotherdreamer, do you know which if any direct-to-consumer genetic tests (including the version #) includes this if you run it through Promethease or look at raw data? I have a 'superfile' at Promethease an...

On my list :)

When I just want to quote a portion, I quote all and then delete all but the portion. A slight hassle over something easier, but doable if I'm not on my phone.

Re: New pilot study showing favorable effects of modified mediterranean ketogenic diet

I should add that I found this by searching expertscape to see, using their metrics, who would be the top Alzhiemer's researchers in the world. Henrik Zetterberg comes out at the top and this paper was listed among those he helped publish. Cunnane of ketone fame was also involved with this paper. I ...

New pilot study showing favorable effects of modified mediterranean ketogenic diet

Modified ketogenic diet is associated with improved cerebrospinal fluid biomarker profile, cerebral perfusion, and cerebral ketone body uptake in older adults at risk for Alzheimer’s disease [Pilot; n=20] All participants had improved metabolic indices following MMKD. MMKD was associated with incre...
