Re: APOE 4/4 Specific diet - Dr. Gundry or not?

Circ, I read the transcript and I did not see where he says sdLDL only needs to be tested once. I can say as a patient, that is a metric he looks at every time our blood is sampled. Thank you for the correction Tincup! I got it mixed up with Lp(a) I'll edit my post in case someone reads it b...

Re: Stavia's Vegetarian very low fat trial

Hi kimberlamb - no I never did it properly, it was just far too hard to work out the macros to fit with what is optimal for me. The protein was really difficult to get to 60 grams (which I find best for me) while keeping the carbs low enough and the fat high enough. All whole food vegetarian protei...

Re: APOE 4/4 Specific diet - Dr. Gundry or not?

What is really lacking is proof and quantifiable ways to measure the things that it claims to be addressing. The best I've found is the review of Gundry's book The Plant Paradox on Red Pen Reviews . Their review is very extensive. You can find it here . Plumster, interesting site I was unaware of. ...

Re: Strawberries and 34% lower risk of AD in Rush Memory Cohort

I think Dr. Gundry would generally be against strawberries for the sugar content rather than lectins, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Many of us, Gundry followers or not, use berries as a source of whatever carb amount we allow ourselves because of what I've taken is their strong associati...

Re: Strawberries and 34% lower risk of AD in Rush Memory Cohort

I believe in "parallel incrementalism", a concept that discusses how we as a people move forward on complex problems, at a societal level. Which in a nutshell means, we cannot get to perfect answers, so until we do we all work as a team to push good answers forward even if they are partia...

Re: APOE 4/4 Specific diet - Dr. Gundry or not?

Hi dfmcapecod, I'm not a Gundry expert so can't comment on all your questions. I trust you're in a huge crowd of people on and off this forum asking these questions to themselves if not aloud. I've been comfortable eating almost completely his way because I reacted to many of his bad lectin foods lo...

Re: Another insulin resistance test: Insulin Resistance Panel With Score

Crofts told Stavia, for low carbers, just do her two hour insulin sampling two hours after the carbiest meal of the day. Ah, so Crofts doesn't think her method requires 14 days of higher carb eating? Thanks Tincup. I really think all this is probably overkill for me at this point, but hey, it's one...

Re: Another insulin resistance test: Insulin Resistance Panel With Score

A low carb and/or keto diet can also skew the results for either test. Kraft suggested eating at least 150g/day of carbs for 14 days before doing his test. Hi Tincup, Darn, that's a lot of days eating higher carb than I normally do. Good thing I double checked. I was going to eat higher carb for ab...

Re: Zero carb diet will help prevent Alzheimer’s

Insightful explanation, thank you. She is always trying to get me to do a “plant based” aka vegan diet. Sounds like legumes are a staple of her diet so you’re probably correct wrt the fiber helping. Every time we talk about this I explain that fiber in general is a huge problem for me. I feel miser...

Re: STAT: “ The maddening saga of how an Alzheimer’s ‘cabal’ thwarted progress toward a cure for decades”

I don't really think there was a concerted effort to ignore all other possibilities. That's just typical of science in general. The "hot" hypothesis gets all of the attention (and funds). Unfortunately, I don't see these as mutually exclusive. That's not to denigrate the sincerity of many...
