Indeed. There are many reasons people don't get into the educational streams they expect/hope to get into. There's a lot of prejudice, bias, unfairness in this world.

Re: apoe4 children have lower IQ`s ?

One extra date point. Female 4/4 here, with MSc in computer science, mathematics and formal logic. And I speak 7 languages. Have two kids, each necessarily with at least one E4, both of which are absolutely thriving across topics in school [/disgusting brag] However, our joint education levels are p...

Re: 'Strongest Evidence Yet' Links Anticholinergic Drugs, Dementia

Not sure If I missed this within the thread but there is a suggestion that intranasal corticosteroids (such as Rhinocort and Flonase spray) may help prevent AD. While of course mainly reducing allergic symptoms. Lehrer and Rheinstein (pubmed) Lengthier description by same main author Looks like it n...

Re: Dutch patients with dementia to request euthanasia

I am so grateful to be in the Netherlands where I will have a choice to plan this openly. I assume it will remain hard to pre-determine (and later: recognise) the "cut-off point" though, both for the patient and the loved ones - there are probably clear guidelines and stages but I'm not em...

Re: New (double E4) and research question about family history

I suspect that the family history connection has much to do with other genes that increase or decrease risk. One of the best places to look quickly at your specific genes would be to use Promethease . Thank you Susan! My Promethease results don't paint much of a consistent picture. A bunch of my ot...

I would be interested (and appreciate the poll has closed) but assume I cannot participate from Europe.

Re: New (double E4) and research question about family history

I think other members have discussed the possibility of genes that can protect against AD, and this seems likely in the situation you find in your family. Here is one for example. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Thank you! It would be great if any of the commercially available gene testing se...

Re: New (double E4) and research question about family history

The lifestyle story is indeed interesting. To paint a rough picture - we're in the Netherlands where base levels of activity may be slightly higher than in parts of the US thanks to cycling as a common means of transport. My dad always did physical work as well as lots of running and daily exercise....

New (double E4) and research question about family history

Hello all What a great, informative and respectful forum this is. I signed up after reading these boards for a couple of months and am currently reading the Bredesen book. When I found out that I carry double apoE4 after a test that I mostly did to learn about my heritage I was surprised as I have n...
