Re: Alzheon ALZ-801 results presentations tomorrow

Thanks NF52. :D That's interesting, and promising. I feel like once we have a few interventions that work a bit, we could start using them in combination for stronger outcomes and then we'd be making good progress.

Re: Alzheon ALZ-801 results presentations tomorrow

Thanks so much for the news. I wish I could be there to hear these results! I notice on the website you linked there is a press release describing the various talks and posters related to these studies. Let's hope the actual results get reported out in print soon.

Re: Modifiable risks and APOE 4/4

It can be frustrating. It's hard to know for sure what modifiable risk factors to focus on since there isn't an easy way to check our progress and revise our approach. Following the general guidelines arising from research trials is the best approach we have right now. Luckily for us most of the int...

Re: Question about new research on lysosomal autophagy

Thanks for sharing this article. The endosomal/lysosomal system for taking molecules into the cell, releasing the useful ones, and digesting the rest is disrupted by apoe4. It creates a bit of a traffic jam there. If these hypothetical drugs fix the structure of apoe4 and gets this system flowing ag...

Re: Celebration Thread! Biogen is going to the FDA with Aducan.

Hi everyone. I hope you're all well. Life is busy and I mostly stay in the background these days, though I continue to work in a closely-related field and I do read this site regularly. I agree with Julie about the need to look upstream from amyloid and tau, especially for E4s. It's so challenging t...

Hi Veero. Thanks for reminding me of that. I'm hoping it stops eventually. I'd prefer to see one thing at a time. ;)

Re: Homotaurine (tramiprosate) appears to be a structure corrector

Hi everyone. Happy New Year. I've been taking 100mg / day of homotaurine. I find a side effect for me is a busy, hyperactive brain. I describe it as racing thoughts that overlap instead of coming one at a time - not too bad but a little odd. Of course this makes sense since it is a GAMA partial agon...

Re: Panicking 41yr old grown up man

Hi Peter, It sounds like you have been taking care of your health already - congrats on that. As you learn more you might decide to make some adjustments. Most of us do. But being active and eating well in general is a good place to start. And all that walking is great! I am 6'0" and 190lbs too...

Re: Homotaurine (tramiprosate) appears to be a structure corrector

I've had tinnitus for 10-15 years. 50mg of homotaurine at night has had no effect, so far.
