Re: fasting glucose and a1c
Mike - you are right. I dip around 10 pm and 3 am. Not when I wake up. Can you tell me more about what you ate at the various meals along with what happened after? When you reach your high after a meal will depend on what you eat. If you just eat carbs, could be quick. Protein and fat can change th...

Re: New here from NY
The best thing about a CGM is that it gives you a line graph as opposed to points in time. You can try a carb and watch how it affects you in real time or after the fact. See the shape of the curve.

Re: fasting glucose and a1c
Here is today's question: Can BG spike at a moment's notice? If so, then what is the relevance of fasting glucose? You could get stuck in traffic, spike BG, and the test result would be more of an indicator of stress than anything else. Before the CGM when folks took their BG with a finger pinch, i...

Re: Newbie
Hi my name is Shelley and I discovered that I am homozygous for apoe4 about a year ago. My Mom has AD and a great aunt and great grandfather on my Father’s side suffered from dementia/AD. I am a scientist by training so I dove into the research and it is not very encouraging for homozygous but not ...

Re: Newbie in Italy
Buongiorno a tutti. I’m 75, female, from the USA, and now living in northern Italy. (My Italian language skills are dismal.) Recently diagnosed with subjective cognitive impairment (in-hospital tests), I’m glad to have found this group. Thanks to you all for being here. Have you done any genetic te...

Re: fasting glucose and a1c
I got the CGM yesterday. It is pretty interesting. I think I am going to learn a lot. We went on our hike this morning, which we do 4 x per week. My glucose spiked to over 200! Libreview says that I was in that range for about 1/2 hour. Tomorrow I will see what weight lifting does. Exercise glucose...

Re: Newbie!!
As a newbie on here, can anyone give some advice as to where to start? It looks like you are making good choices. There is a lot of info in the Wiki you can find at the top of your screen, which would be a great place to start. I also wanted to mention as a fellow 4/4 that there are a number of VER...

Re: Biomarkers - Optimal Levels
I also find the list in the Wiki a bit hard to digest. There is a column of "Critical Tests," but the list is too long. Do they all need to be done by everyone? Could they be broken up into more and less critical?
