Re: 3/4 here, new, mother dying of Alzheimers...

for some unknown reason and I have seen many doctors of varying specialties on account of this, I suffer from extreme nocturia at night and I will without fail get torn out of my sleep to void whereupon it becomes nigh impossible in most cases to fall asleep again. Welcome, and do know, that many o...

Re: NeuroQ Test

ADD runs in my family, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if I have that. None of us like low scores on any of these tests. That said, I know someone with ADD, who wasn't diagnosed until adulthood. As you suggest, executive function and ADD go hand in hand. Maybe the best option is to start with a ...

Re: Summary of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Multicultural Alzheimer’s Prevention Program ApoE Symposium

Something I wrote after attending a recent symposium on apoe4. Thanks for the summary. Interesting mix of observations. I didn't know anything about diacylglycerol so did a quick look and found this tidbit: DAG is an important lipid for lymphocytes and other cell types both because it can be metabo...

Re: Oxalates, a potential problem for Keto, Paleo and vegan diets

Your post was godspeed for me. Hello to a fellow traveler! As you know, if we listen to our bodies, they often have a lot to say. ;) With regards to Vitamin K, there are folks on the TLO page who also have troubles with it. Some claim it starts them dumping. I don't know if there is specific scienc...

Re: Oxalates, a potential problem for Keto, Paleo and vegan diets

...thanks so much Susan! You're welcome, T. Many things shocked me when I was researching, but none so more than this one (that I quoted on the wiki). However, even tiny aggregations of oxalate can cause cell-membrane rupture, up-regulated intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), and decreased ...

Re: Oxalates, a potential problem for Keto, Paleo and vegan diets

Thanks so much for writing this all out so that we all can benefit from it. You're welcome. Not everyone has problems with oxalates - certainly not my hubs who seemingly thrives on a more vegetarian diet! But it was eye-opening to join the Trying Low Oxalates group on Facebook. It's almost 36,000 p...

Oxalates, a potential problem for Keto, Paleo and vegan diets

Most people have heard of oxalates because of their connection to kidney stones. Or with regards to spinach, because the calcium in spinach is bound by oxalates, and therefore spinach is not considered a good source of calcium. But oxalates just might be the missing link to improving your health. Th...

Re: Does eating oats help ?

Family Tree Guy wrote:My hope is that cognitive function is restored to some degree as Alzheimer's patients have more functional apilipoproteinE in their cells, rather than the fragments that the gingipains cause.

Thanks for sharing. Will be interesting to see where that research goes!

Re: Expression Analysis Finds Three Distinct Types of Alzheimer’s

In a nutshell, I read this research and think it could be adding to the potential evidence of pathogen causation of AD, vs. 3 distinct diseases... Interesting take. When I first read it, I thought, not so much 3 distinct diseases, but that maybe we'll have a more personalized approach to treatment ...
