For resistant starch, I use banana flour.
I tried potato starch, but it made me feel "achy" all over.
I actually do both Metamucil unsweetened orange (1tsp) plus 1tsp of banana flour probably 4-5 days a week.

Re: HDL helps clear beta-amyloid
Great.
I struggle to get my HDL over 40.
I think I saw somewhere that exercise has a strong beneficial effect on HDL.
I've got the diet/supplements/sleep down pretty good.
I had better start focusing more on the exercise, now.

The only kind I can get my wife to take are the lemon flavored ones. ie, burp up lemon instead of fish. ;) They are these: Nordic Naturals - Ultimate Omega, Support for a Healthy Heart 1280 mg total Omega 3s 650 mg EPA 450 mg DHA 180 mg "other" Omega 3s Serving size is two capsules. I take...

Re: My Oral Microbiome: How I’m attempting to improve its microbial diversity
Hoping I don't derail the thread ... I think it's related. Is there a relationship between oral bacterium and sinus bacterium? I have sinus issues ... frequently. I think that I could resolve that by restoring the proper biome in my sinuses, but I don't know how to go about that. I've read about the...

Re: Calorie restriction (CR)
I don't count carbs every day like I used to since I have a pretty good idea of what has carbs and what doesn't, and try to avoid the known sources of carbs. That said, I would think I am well below 50 carbs per day most of the time. I totally agree re: the relationship between lipids and heart dise...

Here are my numbers from March. I am not as consistent as I would like to be, unfortunately. And, I don't recall how consistent I was at that time. But, here they are: A1C 5.5 eAG 111 Total Cholesterol 162 Trig 70 Chl/HDL 3.6 HDL 45 Non-HDL 117 LDL 103 VLDL 14 When I was eating the standard diet, my...

Bredesen's protocol is to fast 12 hours per day (overnight, between dinner and breakfast), but then to eat the normal (low glycemic) three meals during the day. I normally don't eat lunch. So, I am, in effect, fasting 10-12 hours between every meal. I assume this would be considered a form of interm...

Re: Omega-3 Index-Know your level!
I'm confused. I just read another post where we were cautioned against fish oil due to stroke risk. I currently take 2G in the morning and 2G in the evening. And, I've reduced my saturated fat intake (opting for seafood/chicken instead of red meat) while increasing my olive oil intake. It's resulted...

Re: For My Fellow EVOO Epicurians
Is it crazy to eat a tbs of olive oil every day ... just as-is ... on a spoon?
I find it keeps the bowel movements more "normal."
I used to use metamucil every day. Would rather not go back to that.
Plus, MUFA is good for us, no?
