Re: Article: Alzheimer’s Gene APOE4 Tied to Tau Protein in the Brain

"Scientists have long associated APOE4 with amyloid plaques, one of the two types of protein misfires in the brain that lead to development of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. But the connection with the other type of proteins — called tau tangles — has been more tenuous. However, a new study ...

Re: E4/E4 carrier new introduction

Hello. I am a 44 year old wife and mother of 5 who recently found out I am an e4/e4 carrier. I found out through my 23and me results. I haven't slept well the week since finding out. I feel as if I'm doomed to get AD at a young age. I realize that is not true, but the results have yet to sink in in...

Re: More questions about diet

Your questions are exactly the ones I am asking myself. I just turned 65, am female, and have for about 2 years tried to only eat in a 6 hour window. I am apoe3/4. My mother died from Alzheimer's. My weight has dropped from 140 to 118. I dont need to lose more. I eat low carb but struggle with what...

Re: Saying hi and needing help

Hi new friends! I thought I'd introduce myself. There is so much info on this site and I'm feeling overwelmed. I have read the primer btw :) I just turned 40, and have a mother that was diagnosed with AD 4 years ago. She is 69. My dad takes care of her at home He is 70, is deaf in one ear, and has ...

Re: What are the Top 10 Books on APOE E4 and Alzheimers

Hi there new friends. I discovered in June that I carry not one, but two copies of the ApoE4 Variant. And it was a 45 min online lecture from Amy Berger that sent me strait to the MCT oil at 1 a.m. as the message hit home. And it is Amy Berger's site Tuit Nutrition that led me to you. While I have ...

Re: Information on RS4420638 (A;A)?

I did Ancestry test, but they have a problem with one of the APOE genoset SNPs, always reporting T;T instead of other possibilities. I am CC for the other, which means I could be E4/E4. I have seen SNP RS4420638 to be correlated with rs429358 (the Ancestry mishap SNP). What is your status of RS4420...

Re: jaydigital - new here

Hi, I and my pal, Al, are new to your forum. But I'm glad we found you. I was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 7 years ago and have been fortunate to have a slow progression which I attribute the staying very active mentally. At the advice of neurologists at that time, I sold my one-man web development b...

Re: Stephanie Grossman. CentreSpring MD, Atlanta GA

Thank you so much for sharing! I have been looking for a Bredesen protocol trained doctor in Atlanta and haven't had any luck. I am new to the site and only found out my APOE 4/4 status recently. I am 44 with no symptoms at this time but lost my father to Alzheimers and once learning my 4/4 status ...
