Re: Apod -- Advanced Lipids #3 (HFLC!)
Thank you, apod, for sharing all this. If I take all your lifestyle data and divide calories and macros by two and adjust volume and intensity of exercise by about the same amount, I get... me. Very similar diet. And similar strategies in terms of ketones and soluble fiber. BMI about the same (mine ...

Re: Dietary supplement may prevent and reverse severe damage to aging brain...
Followed the link to Rhonda Patrick's page and read that the mice were engineered to artificially age via growth hormone -- so the supplement corrected for that. I wonder how much of normal real-world mouse aging is attributable to comparable factors. Still nice to see the similarity in protocols, b...

Re: CHAT (acetylcholine transferase) gene and AD risk
Martha, try this thread on which choline to take. Harrison laid out how the different forms are used. It might depend whether you are aiming for brain symptoms or something else like high homocysteine. Thank you, Susan, and also Harrison and everyone else who contributed to the thread. Doing my rab...

Re: Catherine Crofts interview on the role of insulin resistance in dementia
I enjoyed hearing her speak even though most of it wasn't new -- I've tried to read most of what she has put online. I know this is silly, but to my ears her accent/way of speaking was similar to Catherine Tate's. So I found myself expecting a punch line the whole time, and getting tickled at expres...

Re: Weightloss…..HELP!!!
Good luck with this. I found that for me, eating nuts several times a day, avocado every day, and experimenting with 2 or 3 times as much olive oil as I would usually put in a recipe will keep me from losing weight when I don't want to. (Without resorting to unhealthy things). You may be surprised h...

I have been meaning to ask the group their opinions about this supplement and this seems like the appropriate thread. I am A/G on one of the snps and don't appear to have a report on the other one. I bought a couple bottles of Jarrow's Neuro Optimizer brand some time back because it appeared to me t...

Re: Reasons I tweak*
Thanks, Susan, and Julie. Yes, Julie, I was very resistant to limiting the foods that were sending my blood sugar up. I'm still not 100% convinced that glucose levels should always trump other factors. Especially if insulin resistance is low and the higher numbers are transient. But sometimes the ge...

Re: Reasons I tweak*
Took the afternoon off and walked about seven miles, broken up by window shopping, dinner, a ferry ride, and a train back home. Good to have the energy for that. Wondering about strategies for getting my more intense workouts back online.

Re: Ketogenic Diet: Transitioning, Experiences, Reasons, Cautions ...
Alysson, are you sure about the business of gluconeogenesis being a catabolic process of the type you describe? I am not really fluent in these concepts, but I've been reading a lot off and on lately and your description didn't seem to square with my developing understanding. I wish I could expand o...
