Re: AD kills more people than previously thought
I had the same mixed feelings. Wow, Alzheimer's moves from 6th leading cause of death to 3rd But, IF it brings the attention and funding so desperately needed; THAT might be the silver lining

Re: Controlling protein intake may be key to a long and heal
Here's Dr. P's rebuttal. If one chooses to eat animal protein, QUALITY MATTERS.

My version of a Ketogenic Diet
There's so much misinformation about a ketogenic diet. Most imagine it looks something like this: image.jpg NOT.MY.VERSION. :D For over a year now, I've been practicing a mildly ketogenic diet as ONE tool (among many!) to prevent Alzheimer's. My version is 65% fat, 20% protein, and 15% carbs and fea...

Re: Exersise and AD
Good info, G, I may play with that. For now, I'm working out 5-6 days a week, 45 mins. a shot. I was walking/running exclusively, but have recently decided to alternate that with pilates. I had noticed a loss of strength...most likely due to LC; rebounding nicely. Pilates is amazing for both strengt...

Re: RBK Intro.
Too funny; gathering belongings, hunting jetways. Hey, a sprint is a sprint...you don't need a wooly mammoth at the end :-) I appreciate your dilemma about macronutrient ratios/fat composition, etc. Many of us are struggling with those same quandaries. FWIW, I did hear back from Dr. Henderson and he...

Re: merouleau intro
Welcome Merouleau! I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad; YES- very motivating. Congrats on all of the positive health changes you've made so far. I'm a fellow low-carber, also studying the ketogenic diet as an AD prevention tool. Like you, I'm working on figuring out a way to make it healthy for us E...

Music Therapy
Dont't throw away your old I-Pod. Consider donating it. This organization is recycling them and loading them with AD patient's favorite tunes. This concept is so simple...with stunningly beautiful results. It almost reminds me of the 1990 film "Awakenings" with Robert DeNiro. http://abcnew...

Re: ALZFORUM on 23 and me
Thanks for sharing Doc. Are you aware that Dr. Doraiswaimy is actually talking about US? One of our members, Lillybritches, reached out to him and arranged a conference call between he and a group of us E4 carriers. He knew of our distress firsthand. He spent 30+ minutes speaking with us and answeri...

Re: RBK Intro.
Skibike, about how much coconut oil did you drop to get the LDL reduction? FWIW, I totally respect your experience and journey. Science is really murky here, so our n=1 studies are really important. I'm sure you know that MCTs are metabolized differently than LCTs. They are rapidly absorbed and go t...

Really cool, Giftsplash. I'd love to see more people included. Based on these correlations, what dietary advice would you give us?
