Re: Plasmalogens- exciting new evidence

Because plasmalogen is a phospholipid, you'll note (Slide #73) the correlation with a specific lipid pattern: High HDL, low TGs, and especially a high HDL/LDL ratio = high plasmalogen levels. So, while we don't have definitive diet/lifesytle interventions that translate to high plasmologen, we can ...

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD

I have one Apoe4. They wouldn’t tell me what the other one was. There's a quick way to figure it out for yourself. Open your 23andMe raw data file in a text editor like Notepad or Textedit, and search for "45412079". Likely there will only be one or two matches in the file, and one of the...

Re: Dr. Rhonda: Get some DHA in phospholipid form

I would be curious if there's any concern over the Neu5Gc content of fish roe (a complaint I've read about beef / red meat.) While ground beef and bison supply ~25-29ug/g of Neu5Gc, fish roe is in the 400-500ug/g range. From this perspective, a prophylactic 0.5oz serving of roe (which barely provid...

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD

I also went through every SNP that was on my promethese report and only a few of them on the PHS scale were of concern. Basically we don't know ANYTHING! If it makes me live a better life then it is worth it right? I have one sister diagnosed at 63 and another fine at 69. My 92yo mother has all her ...

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD

I really wonder how they can have a 100 percentile unless they have the deterministic PSEN and APP genes in there? I think the PHS is a relative metric, not an indicator of absolute risk. "100" means maximum risk relative to other humans, not 100% risk. Good point, Marc. Here's a quote fr...

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD

My PSEN and APP are all green on 23 and me so not sure how that impacted my score. I guess 50% at age 80 is better than age 60??? I failed to mention I also have a 69yo sister who is mentally intact. She hasn't had any genetic testing. Who knows right? The bottom line is we have no clue I guess.

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD

Supposedly my polygenic hazard score percentile is 100. So basically everyone else on earth has a lower risk than me? That is super comforting. :( AZ50: 80 Not sure about when it says it will "report this value at your specific age once you turn 60 due to the nature of the Alzheimer's disease a...

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD

Only for the brave! For a mere $99, Dash Genomics just announced that they will be making this risk score available. This polygenic algorithm (which looks at individual risk as a function of age) in computed in direct partnership with the original paper authors for anyone with 23andMe or Ancestry d...

Re: Optimum Pregnenolone Level?

Hi I recently started getting some of the bloodwork on the Bredesen List and my Progenalone level was 151 ng/dL with a reference range of 15 - 132 ng/dL. This is Progenelone MS. I had all my other hormone tests and was quite low as I'm perimenopausal I guess. Thinking about BHRT. I'm only 53 and sti...

Re: Bredesen Protocol lab test: "A/G Ratio"

Hi. My A/G ratio is 3.1 -- which is "in range" according to Dr. Bredesen. My Albumin is 5.0. My Globulin, however is slightly lower than the reference range - 1.6 (range is 1.8 - 3.8 g/dL). Should I be worried? The ration is still much over the low end for the protocol.
