Re: Whiskey/brandy for longevity?
Hi Jesper: Interesting question! My APOE3/4 Mother will soon be approaching 87 and has consumed brandy her entire adult life. When I stayed with my parents years ago, I noticed it was a pre-dinner cocktail every night. She might not drink as much any more, but when we give her a bottle of brandy fo...

Re: Labs question
Youch. I know a number on this site follow Dr Gundry, but this makes no sense to me. I'm with you. I do a variety of exercise - walking the dogs up and down steep hills for 2-3 miles in the morning, working with a PT to work on strength training once a week (may change to twice), and I try to play ...

Re: Mitochondrial Dysfunction in E4 carriers
Pardon my ignorance, I am still in the learning process now... I wonder if since mitochondria is inherited maternally, does this mean that there have been any studies that show if the apoE4 is from father then it is not contributing towards the AD risk? I guess they'd need to have subjects that are...

Re: Mitochondrial Dysfunction in E4 carriers
Pardon my ignorance, I am still in the learning process now. I joined a while ago, but was beyond busy trying to manage my father and now he's in a memory home so I have some time to research once again. I wonder if since mitochondria is inherited maternally, does this mean that there have been any ...

Re: Mitochondrial Dysfunction in E4 carriers
Thus, apoE4 may cause mitochondrial dysfunction at very early stages in life. Please forgive me for reviving an older thread. I've been reading around the forum, and I've noticed a bit of talk about 4s having problems with mitochondria from a young age (something about not making ATP very well? - I...

Re: Gundry and crossfit
Hi Mike, On this clip, if you go to 24 minutes, you'll hear what Dr. Gundry says regarding crossfit. He even states " the last thing that apoe4 s should do is cross fit". Maybe it was because of the cheese on the burger? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfr9RPq0HFg I encourage all females t...

Anyone here using Kaiser for RECODE?
Hi everyone, We have Kaiser right now. I tried calling and asking them if they have any Bredesen trained docs. Got switched a bunch to different departments, of course with an answer of " I don't know". "I don't know" means "no". But, just want to be thorough because th...

Re: Labs question
Thanks Mike, for the clip. Gundry does continue to advocate for the olive oil. He did mention in the youtube from a couple years back that the Nigerians were not eating the same type of grain we eat here. I have heard him say cheese bad, and I am your typical 4 that loves cheese. But, I thought ever...

Re: Labs question
Diet "Research" has been mostly garbage over the years, so why start trusting it now? ApoE4 is the original, and back then our brains were already large and our intestines small, which means we were primarily meat eaters from way back. Abundant, year round Carbs were not added to the diet...

Re: "Laird Superfood" ?
They do have an unsweetened creamer with 1 gr of carbs. But if you are going to go down this route, You can do as I do and use heavy cream, if you are okay with dairy. It is technically not fasting since there are calories, but it is pure fat, so only the ketone pathway should be started. I wait un...
