Quote from Tim Spector

I'm reading Tim Spector's The Diet Myth . Am finding it worthwhile and enjoyable. The following quote made me think of this community: The gut is the second-largest network of nerves outside of our heads and has been called our second brain. It has been estimated that the kilometres of neurons and n...

Re: Welcome to our new Meet-Up Forum!

I'll start a fermentation meetup for those interested in creating their own fermented foods where we will make the ferment (for example sauerkraut or pickled vegetables) together while learning about it. I've done this with individuals so a group will be a lot of fun! If there is enough interest, I...

Re: International BMJ/Swiss Re Food for Thought Conference

Thanks! I really enjoyed the microbiome one. Interesting how Tim Spector talks about polyphenols as "gut fuel" as opposed to antioxidants. Has anyone read his book The Diet Myth ? I've been looking for a good book on gut health — would be great if someone could recommend something they fou...

Re: Dr. Gabriel Lyon - Benefits of High Protein

I found the podcasts really interesting, but am not knowledgable enough to evaluate Gabriel Lyon's claims. However, I'm cautiously intrigued. Like circular was saying earlier in the thread, I wish Rhonda Patrick would interview Gabriel! Something I can start doing straight away is adding some resist...

Re: Dr. Gabriel Lyon - Benefits of High Protein

You must have had one very happy sister ! My limited experience with Ontario, Canada is that once you get out of the cities, it offers lots of wide-open spaces, lakes, trees and space for feeling in touch with both yourself and nature. Hope with or without a car you get to enjoy it. Yes, that's def...

Re: Ketogenic Diet: Transitioning, Experiences, Reasons, Cautions ...

Thanks everyone for the support and suggestions! Some things I'm currently trying: Drinking salted water in the morning, as well as after exercise. I do at least an hour of exercise a day, and this includes a lot of cardio/sweating. Previously my diet contained almost no sodium, and I think this mig...

If you want something cheap and easy to do, I put a pinch of a high quality sea salt in my water.
Will give it a try. 8-)
