Re: Cooking Methods

I use a method called “sous vide”. The advantage in my mind is low temperatures which reduce formation of AGEs (Advanced Glycation End Products). Douglas Baldwin has extensive safety and process information on line. He also published a very good guide to sous vide cooking.

Re: Is Red Wine OK?

...Is it better to give up alcohol altogether, including red wine?.. . Perhaps it is different for each individual. In my case, a glass of red wine or two at Christmas, Thanksgiving, family, and close friends gatherings doesn’t seem to have a deleterious effect. I almost never test high glucose aft...

The disclosure documents specify test results to be provided. I had an appointment after the cancellation with our site principal investigator. He provided me with a document with my PET scan result.

Re: advanced glycation end products

As far as low temperature cooking, look into 'sous vide'. I use it often. In fact, my sous vide has been running at 135F for the last five days. The food has been changed and consumed/frozen, but something has been cooking continuously. It produces very tender protein given the proper time.

Re: CAD106 and CNP520

I am scheduled for Monday, July 15, for the PET scan results. I hope that will not be canceled. Guess I’ll find out today. Hi donbob, I'm guessing you have heard or will hear today. I just spoke with the Nurse Practitioner for my site and have been advised that all future PET/MRI scans will be canc...

Re: CAD106 and CNP520

I have been participating in the Generations 1 study, taking either CNP520 or a placebo daily since May. I just got this notification from the study team: We regret to inform you that the sponsor, Novartis, has decided to terminate the Generations Study. As we have previously communicated to you, t...

Re: From keto eating to fasting, a common path?

I learned from my keto-mojo meter the ways of eating and fasting that meet my goals. Also the inevitable family/social excursions are tested. And exercise, yoga, and meditation. As a result, I have a pretty good handle on the best approach in my case. Best wishes Fiver, on your journey to good health.

Re: Exercise-Very Encouraging Study. What is your Exercise Prescription?

Motivates me to get hot on my sauna plans. For 40+ years, I have very consistently taken extremely hot baths, to the point I am dripping with sweat in the bathtub. I have just always really enjoyed it. Now that there has been so many studies and news on the benefits of the sauna, I wonder if all th...

Seems prudent to keep blood glucose well controlled. Can’t see many downsides to good BG control.
