Re: Eating well- frying/roasting veg - is it that bad?

Makes sense. Thanks for the suggestion - I will give the EVOO + spices a go! Sometimes I use tamari or coconut aminos too. I'm all about fast, hands off food prep these days, so I never take time to mix my own dressings and what not. The Instant Pot is also great for soups, and I often use the sous...

Re: Eating well- frying/roasting veg - is it that bad?

If this is true: AGEs form when sugar interacts with proteins or fats in the bloodstream. Then I think what’s happening is once the food is browning, it’s essentially caramelizing the sugars in whatever food it is. These will then interact with any fat and/or protein present to form AGEs, the amount...

Re: Getting an insurance covered baseline when you're not symptomatic (?)

Hi Circular, Have you had any luck with getting your insurance to pay for baseline testing? Because of a freak accident early this year, I ended up getting both a brain MRI and a CT scan. The concern they were checking for wasn't present (whew!), but the brain MRI results in particularly were very ...

Re: Advanced Glycation/sRAGE

They cook it in the can and who knows how high the heat is. If this is the case, I'd also be concerned about how much aluminum is leached into the fish. Hmmm, that's something I'd never thought of. If I could afford all my fish and seafood to be flash frozen at sea, that's definitely the way I woul...

Re: Indoor hydroponic gardening (Aero Gardens in particular)

I've never done this, so really can't advise with authority, but my inclination is to be careful of mold. Thanks for that Theresa. I've been browsing an Aero Garden reddit and that does come up occassionally, but my take is that it isn't often and probably most likely when it's not properly cared f...

Indoor hydroponic gardening (Aero Gardens in particular)

Is anyone doing this? How big of a nutritional tradeoff is it over, say, store or farmer's market bought organic? (I realize those options are too varied to be comparable :) ) I mean no sun or soil??????????????? Right now I'm mainly thinking of a small Aero Garden for herbs, which I love. I find us...

Re: Is misattribution AD?

No, sorry, she's alright. She is actually my mother, I didn't want to give any name and wanted to hear an objective assesment, because I was scared that she said a delusional thing. It's more like, she has no memory loss at all ... but.. it's not the first time she told me what I had told her. And ...

Hopeful Peter Attia Podcast with John Kastelein

#255 ‒ Latest therapeutics in CVD, APOE’s role in Alzheimer’s disease and CVD, familial hypercholesterolemia, and more | John Kastelein, M.D., Ph.D. This is such an interesting and hopeful podcast for us. I skipped way ahead past the first part about familial cholesterolemia to hear about Apoe4, an...

Re: Weird rabbit hole: mutant marrow-derived cells protect vs AD

I think I'll stick with ApoE 4/4 risk, after looking down this rabbit hole on the Dana Farber Cancer Center site: I hear ya. Eric Topol is advocating that it's time for us to all be CHIP tested to know our risk of all the yukky stuff using this biomarker. (I'm not sure how to get his article withou...

Weird rabbit hole: mutant marrow-derived cells protect vs AD

Clonal hematopoiesis is associated with protection from Alzheimer’s disease Discussion We provide here several lines of evidence supporting the role of mutant , marrow-derived cells in protecting against the risk of AD . First, CHIP [Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential] is associated wi...
