Re: Lower cancer risk in AD patients
It's interesting that chemo seemed to further decrease the risk for AD, I would have thought that would have the opposite affect given people can get 'chemo brain' or brain fog after treatment. very interesting

Lower cancer risk in AD patients, APOE4 carriers
Did you know that studies have shown a lower risk for cancer in AD patients? and some cancer patients are less likely to develop AD? e.g. https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=171240 "...people with Alzheimer's have nearly half the risk of getting cancer compared to the gen...

Re: Question! Breastfeeding moms and babies...
You need quite a lot of calories while breastfeeding and baby needs nutrition, I was starving while extended breastfeeding. Incidentally some research shows the longer you breastfeed the better health outcomes for mum and baby including metabolic benefits and lower risk of type 2 diabetes.

I wonder if there's anything they can do with the promoter genes, can they switch them on and off or do something to increase APOE levels if that is helpful.

Re: Serotonin, Depression and SSRI Antidepressants
So, I wonder if for people who are depressed is it better to treat it, (whether with meds or something else) but for the general population these meds would not be protective against dementia or AD. But is seems the key thing is continued treatment- it seems depression is conducive to dementia or AD...

Re: Serotonin, Depression and SSRI Antidepressants
I thought this was interesting given the study at the start of this post. It seems continued treatment is better than one off meds. I also read around 80% of people stop meds in the first few months which may explain things as well. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19138799 Antidepressants and de...
