Re: niacin---nicotinomide

Hi Lucy, We have a vitamin D thread here: https://www.apoe4.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1663 Might be worth taking a look at. There is, here and among researchers, a huge divergence in recommended ideal levels. Mine was around 27 ng/mL a couple years ago, and I started taking 1000 IU on day...

Re: niacin---nicotinomide

Julie...I'm very interested in the emerging theories/educated guesses at synergies of foods/supplements. If there's a chance that we can boost our defenses thru pairing up EVOO and Omegas to prevent oxidation, for example, then why not do it. Thx for the tip.

PLOS ONE Study (10/2/15)

Study Link http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0139082 Of specific interest to me is the following Discussion paragraph: "The current study found that, in the absence of Aβ+, APOE ε4 also had no effect on cognitive function. The two previous studies that examined th...

Re: niacin---nicotinomide

Waves, Lucy! Sorry to jump in so late. I had a few comments/observations. Dr. Bredesen has just suggested adding 100 mg of Nicotinamide Riboside to my regimen to reduce tau, enhance mitochondrial function, and to activate sirtuins. I feel good with it; but haven't noticed any obvious benefit or sid...

Re: BioViva -- The Future is Now

K, great post, and Lucy, I'm with you on the magical thinking. Telomerase, small-molecule correctors, gene-editing, stem cell fix-a-brain-a-roo thingies.... I often have to think these things are just around the corner -- a nearby corner. And maybe some of them really are! Well, GB, this old girl i...

Re: BioViva -- The Future is Now

I read this the other day and seems relevant to this thread http://www.michaelfossel.com/blog/?p=98 K Interesting post ktg, thx for sharing! And, as a 4/4, I'll admit to my share of "magical thinking" that the good Doc discusses here. Some days when I'm feeling overwhelmed, believing in t...

Re: niacin---nicotinomide

We all help each other honey. Now that we are all tweaking your markers - whats your homocysteine and D3 running at? Hey Stavia, Homocysteine (umol/L) 12 and D3 (ng/mL) 39. Labs were a year ago, but supplements addressing those issues are pretty much the same. I've been taking all the correct methy...

Re: niacin---nicotinomide

Stavia, Circ, GB...thx for the melatonin suggestions. Started taking the larger TR dose a # of yrs ago and never re-researched if lower doses were available! SusanJ -- have not looked into the BHMT gene but I definitely will. My homocysteine was lower when I was using SAMe a few years ago but didn't...
